  1. How do you know this? Dude has a totally reworked swing and the contact has gone way up since then. I think you can throw out the earlier numbers and if you just focus on his numbers since he reworked the swing, they are crazy. Nobody is even talking about his spring either. It was a joke that he didn't make the club out of spring so they could hold on to the likes of Gorkys Hernandez. He should have been the starting LF with Pence on the bench given his spring numbers. If you combine spring, AAA, and current AB's, he is hitting .378 with 12 ho

  4. There's another pitcher in Miami emerging, Tayron Guerrero. Numbers now don't look good because he was blown up early...throws 100mph and has struck out 24 in 12 innings including his last 10 batters. I don't agree with most of those outside of Holland and Jimenez. If Box is pulled, Hirano could just as easily be closer. Miami could be Steckinrider or Barraclough. Jepsen sucks.

  7. That's why I always take a numbers based approach to go with the new scouting reports. One of the things that turned me on the AAAA Nelson Cruz when I first started posting here was that he had changed his swing, but it was resulting in a much higher contact % and he was also walking a great deal more in the minors. I was convinced that when Texas gave him another shot, he was going to perform. Contrast that with another guy that was being hyped at the same time in Dallas McPhereson. While Cruz was showing huge gains in patience and plate discipline, McPhereson was not despite h

  8. Keeping an eye on: The Ghosttown that is Tyler Chatwood Porcello v. Happ, the latter is a more undervalued SP IMO. Ohtani v. Morton probably the marquis match-up of the day. Winner gets sole hold of the AL-West. Maybe the best velocity match-up of the year. Ohtani looking to reboudn in terms of FA command. Marco Gonzales day. Sabathia making his return against maybe my personal favorite SP in Jose Berrios McCarthy and Mahle I think is an underrated one. Mccarthy will be a solid streamer and Mahle neeeds to show more seco

  9. The big thing, as always with a lot of guys like this, is the development of the hit tool I've seen some positive stuff since his hot start, but it's hard to shake some evaluators saying.he needs to completely retool his swing in order to succeed at higher levels Reed was seen as a top 10 MLB draft talent at one point, but those concerns really dropped him Nice to see he's off to a hot start....let's see what happens from here. Cautions optimism

  10. Watching it in person right now. My amateur scouting report of what I’ve seen so far: fastball is sitting 90-92. He can reach back for 93-94 at times. Works down in the zone with a lot of sink and generates a lot of ground balls. Change up sitting 78-82 with lots of movement as well. Haven’t seen him use it to righties yet. Slider is sitting 85-87 and getting swings and misses from righties. Got bailed out by a surprisingly spry Joey Bats at third turning an impressive double play. Looks polished and ready for the show.

  11. Go Farquhar. Chicago White Sox‏Verified account @whitesox ago The Chicago White Sox released the following update on the condition of White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar, currently a patient at RUSH University Medical Center after suffering a brain hemorrhage and ruptured aneurysm during the team’s game in Chicago Friday night: Get well, Danny. May Almighty God bless you and your family during this difficult time. Pardon me for getting off-topic from the daily games subject for a bit. Never know the curve life may throw at you.

  12. Deserves at least a thread as a toolsy guy who may be either off to a hot start or in the midst of a breakout. 50 raw / 70 speed per Fangraphs. Made an appearance today on Baseball Prospectus Monday Morning 10 Pack. BP likes him too. In pertinent part, article -- subscription needed That's exactly what most of us are doing with prospecting, taking calculated gambles on the guys with star potential. Batting .413 with 4 HR, 6 doubles, and 5 SB to start the year. 3.1 BB% v. 24.6% K.

  13. I actually like the Mark Trumbo comparison a lot looking at their stats. I think Mac is still going to be ultra-aggressive and he will still K a lot, but I'd take .250 with 30 bombs for sure. I think the Giants would be pretty happy with that as well given their need for power in that stadium. I do know that they had him rated much higher than Adam Duvall (another comparable guy given the numbers) in their own system and part of why they were willing to part with Duvall. Mac is also a better athlete and defender, which was a factor. He has been very injury prone in the minors th

  15. That's a LOT of stuff to clean up. Do you really want to invest a top 5 pick in hope that you can correct all of that? You basically just listed all of the qualities of a QB that lacks feel for the nuance of game. The deal breaker for me is #3.

  16. Fair point - but in most leagues you either have to jump and see what comes of it, or you'll never own the player. So we jump, and hope.

  21. rotoprofessor for what it's worth. http://rotoprofessor.com/baseball/?p=35743 I'm not really in agreement. unless Boxberger completely falls apart I think they should and want to keep Bradley in this role. I'm also not sold on Barraclough being a better option than Steckenrider.

  26. Is he the most underrated player ever? I feel like he's never lumped in with the stud first basemen but you know he's almost a shoe in to get close to 30 HRs, 100 RBIs and .300 every single year with no protection around him. Yet I don't think the lay fan even knows who he is.

  30. As Bautista, Flowers and Acuna prepared for Triple-A Gwinnett's Monday doubleheader in Rochester, none of them had a definitive arrival date. But there's at least a chance all three could join Atlanta's lineup by the end of this week, or at least by the time this current road trip concludes on May 3. https://www.mlb.com/braves/news/flowers-bautista-acuna-to-bolster-braves/c-273528568

  36. Watch the SEA game last year if you errantly believe Watson lacks the velocity to beat an elite secondary deep. Its a worthless stat. There is obviously a certain minimum velocity needed to be a great NFL QB, and afterwards it's fairly meaningless except in rare situations.
