  3. One never knows what Cashman is thinking, but honestly, I think they are tired of Bird's act. Even if Bird has a good Spring, you going to give him the starting job over Voit if he also has a good Spring? Imo they are playing up Bird for a trade early on. There is no way you put Voit in AAA if he is hitting given all the drama we have had between injuries and just plain sucking from Bird over the last few years. Obviously Voit does not have much of a leash, but if he is hitting, it makes Cashman look like a genius so I just can not imagine they again opt to bet on Bird staying healthy and

  4. Yup. Been doing an update to the top 100 over at my site. Here is a link to #1-25 (I also posted #26-50 yesterday): https://www.imaginarybrickwall.com/march-2019-top-100-dynasty-baseball-prospects-ranking-1-25-w-new-blurbs-updated-rankings-and-slightly-updated-projections/

  6. Surprised no thread on this guy yet. Former first round pick, now 28 years old and the new Ace of the Seattle staff. Finally healthy last year and while he doesn’t have elite stuff, his repertoire is developing. Peripherals look pretty solid. Looking for him to take another step forward this year. With an ADP of 295, could end up being one of the steals of the draft. I’m buying.

  8. For these reasons they are all devalued greatly. In a daily league with DL spots, the price to pay for the moving parts is not very high. Ryu, Maeda, and Stripling are all going past round 15 in drafts and all have SP2 ability when on the mound.

  9. he's the most natural basketball talent of all time that is why. mastered every move and his drive is unmatched by anyone in the history of sports (all sports included) other than the true goats like Jordan, Brady, and Roger Federer

  10. He's 44th in volume of 95+ EV hit balls..but 168th in rate of 95+ EV hit balls. He puts way more balls in play then most players. Contact rates always need to be in consideration when judging stat cast data

  13. From Fangraphs: The 2019 Lottery Ticket: Julio Rodriguez, OF: There are a few low-level minor league players that possess the ability to burst onto the scene like Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr. have in recent years. Wander Franco in Tampa Bay is one and Rodriguez could be another, although he’s not quite as advanced with the bat at this point. He has immense power potential but he doesn’t sell out for home runs and focuses on hitting the ball hard and using the whole field. He has a patient approach but also has swing-and-miss to his game due to a lack of experience rather than

  15. Every season there are half a dozen injury discounted players and risk aversion eliminates any chance for profit. Once the nature of the injury is known its a nice profit point. Buy Severino at the $14 price point post him to DL, add $1 pitcher flyer like Touki, Woodruff, German, etc. Few players have Severino's upside.

  19. He was very useful last year before he clearly got fatigued with a big innings jump. Was sitting on a 3.46 ERA after his Aug. 3 start, then fell apart until they finally gave him a break at the end of month and he bounced back in September. A 1.79 July ERA and 1.71 September ERA, sandwiched around a 10.35 August. That little tired-arm August dip might just serve to deflate his value to the benefit of those who grab him late.

  20. Yanks have said they're going to give Tulo a bunch of days off to start the season due to all the time he's missed in recent years. They'll slide Gleyber over to SS and put LeMahieu at 2B on those days. He's also going to be the backup 1B for either Voit/Bird and he'll play 3B when Sabathia pitches as the Yankees don't want Andujar over there on those days due to the heat maps that show BIP off Sabathia are disproportionately on the ground and to the third base side. Not even factoring in the very high chance that Tulo stinks and the Yankees decide they need to cut bait or at least relega

  24. I hear what you're saying, but I personally do a lot of lineup tinkering in my weekly H2H categories league based on scouting of my upcoming week's opponent. Certainly 2/3 of my team is set and forget, but we have deep benches and enough weekly moves that I really tailor my team to shore up the categories my opponent has the advantage on. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit in terms of time spent, but most Sundays I spend at least an hour looking at how we stack up against one another and making moves that will best compliment that matchup. I typically have 2-3 bats on a team that I just change ou

  26. Thats what I’ve used for the last 4 years. Composite rankings and ADP are far better than just using one site that only includes the opinions of a single writer or two. I take those rankings then adjust individual players as I see fit after digging into them on fangraphs.

  27. You guys all get a good laugh now but watch it’s going to be Bird. Cashman loves him and is not ready to give up on him

  28. The question is not whether Bird "wins" the job. It's whether Cashman's algorithm spits out Bird at first base as the Yankees' optimal lineup.

  29. Cause the average person don't like to think about complexities. Hence the endless ring arguments. Lebron's game doesn't jive with the average person's "gauge" of what a GOAT basketball player should be (scoring killer mentality). Bron has never tried to be all about scoring, he's always trying be the floor general/player coach, making the statistically best play he sees for the team. Agreed that it is sad that as he ages and declines the hater piranhas will jump up and down to attack him every chance they can get. I didn't like Kobe's individual-centric game or his arrogance, but

  31. Who is the last pitching prospect that is better than Whitley? I'm racking my brain and I'm having a tough time thinking of an arm that I have liked more in the last decade in the prospect world. I think Whitley is my #2 prospect right now behind Vlad. I'd put him over Tatis because the swing and miss issues are a small red flag. I was slightly alarmed when I saw that his weight had supposedly dropped to 195lbs, but it's really clear to me that he weighs more than that. He looks good! I like him more than Giolitio, Urias, Syndergaard, Bundy, T. Walker when they were prospects. So

  33. "I mean everyone's making it like a competition," Voit told Mike Francesa Tuesday. "We're kind of playing every other day and I get it. He's been here. He's been a big prospect for the Yankees and he's had opportunities... "I don't see how I couldn't get the opportunity after what I did last year, unless I just couldn't hit at all in spring training. I mean the guy is coming out swinging. It's a friendly battle. He's a good friend of mine." Translation: Voit "LOLOLOLOLOLOL competition. Greg Bird? He's a nice guy, real cute he's trying".

  36. I think you guys should understand that both the Lakers and LeBron cannot risk these useless games for an injury. Lakers are already looking to the next season. What would be the point for LeBron to play 30+ minutes going forward? In addition, hes not even being completely shutdown. Lakers are invested in LeBron and LeBron is invested in himself - why risk an injury for pointless games at this point of the season. LeBron is also not "young" anymore. Think bigger. Also, I dropped McGee for D Powell, for whatever thats worth lol.

  41. And the Red Sox will win a lot of those games as low-outs with no Save possibility. Meanwhile of those 60 wins you just gave Miami how many will be by more than 3 runs?

  42. Stolen from another forum: The Lakers are 24-23 with LeBron. If you take away that 6-12 stretch and replace it with 9-9 (18 games multiplied by their win percentage with Bron), they're 33-32 and still four games out of the playoffs. They just haven't been good enough with or without LeBron.Put another way, they're +1.3 with LeBron on the court. If you're +1.3 with your best player on the court, you're not going to make the playoffs in the West. The ship didn't sail unless you can admit kobe is better individually speaking. Lebron is not fundamentally sound, he is notor

  43. There was a stat going around last year about how rare it was for Bud Black to have a rookie starter under 25 years old. It may have been that he had never had a full time rookie starter under 25 years old. Story came up with Walt Weiss.
