  1. I mean, neither of them are playing in the majors at the moment ... So ... what we were told WAS true ...

  3. Depth for a playoff push? You are buying that crap that David Stearns is shoveling? The Brewers and Cubs literally tied for the NL Central division last season and needed a 163rd game to determine the winner. Sending down the better guy to play the worse guy and citing "depth for a playoff push" is asinine when you consider how tight the playoff race can end up.

  7. I’ve been reading he only needs to stay down 10 days before the Super 2 is no longer applicable. If that’s their plan it makes sense to do it with their easy schedule next 2 weeks against Miami, Pit and San Fran (plus 2 games vs Hou).

  8. Sorry guys, I got locked out of updating so some of this will be redundant: 1. Baltimore - C Adley Rutchman (Oregon State) Considered the best Catching prospect in several decades. Switch hitter, power and average, elite defensive catcher, above avg speed for pos (good athlete). Cws most outstanding player in 2018, record 17 hits. Should be in the Show by 2021. 2. Kansas City - SS Bobby Witt Jr. (HS - Texas) 5 tool player. Considered the best SS prospect since Arod. Projectable power, high grade glove and arm (throws mid 90s as pitcher in HS). 3. Chicago

  11. I don’t get the love for this guy, his 6.7 K/9 was a K category killer in roto leagues with innings limits last year. Feels like everyone is chasing 2015 with this guy.

  15. And I think the front office are being slaves to the all mighty dollar and the "vet respect" crap. So the Milwaukee front office is most definitely NOT doing what is in best interest of their "real" team to help them win their division right now. What they should do is place Aguliar on waivers. If he passes through, he is sent to the minors. If he is claimed and they come to an agreement with the other team they get something for their farm system for basically a big blob of nothingness. At the very least they should IL him with a fake injury.

  16. I wondered how Ridley fared in the Red Zone last season, especially given that Julio generally has a very low rate of TD per 100 yd. It seems that Ridley didn't get targeted that much (compared to Jones/Hooper/Coleman), but he is an absolute TD monster in terms of effectiveness: 9 TD targets, 7 catches, 6 TDs! 18. To see a contender send down a top prospect who held his own and is playing better than the guy who displaced him (or any other bench bat - like Hernan Perez) to manipulate service time is Bush League. It's laughable, mang. Hopefully for the Brewers this doesn't slow down Hiuras momentum, or disrupt what Moustakas has done since he is shifting back to 2nd. But if the offense starts tanking, in a tight division, with a dubious rotation, you better believe the front office will get lit up. (Side note: this has nothing to do with the fact they announced this today, after my lineups had

  20. kimbrel is extremel different from brasier for a number of reasons, but in terms of being able to find the plate, he had a WHIP of 0.99, 0.68 and and 1.09 his last three years and his last 3 year avg numbers are 102 ks, 25 bb, 2.49 era and a 0.91 whip. i think that is significantly better than brasier.....

  23. Friend forwarded me this from another site he reads: Player A: 42 games, 21 runs, 3 hr, 12 rbi, 14 sb, .110 ISO Player B: 58 games, 20 runs, 4 hr, 17 rbi, 14 sb, .107 ISO. I think we all would take player A since he played in about 27% fewer games. Player A is Mallex Smith Player B is Jose Ramirez

  24. No team interested in Kimbrel just suddenly waited until draft day to contact him. He has been a free agent all along. Teams have had the entire off season and the two months of this season to get a deal in place. The actual closing of the deal just had to wait until now so as not to accrue the penalty but all the dotted i's and crossed t's could/should have been sitting there on paper already just waiting the clock count down to happen for the signatures to take place. Yes some team could come in at the last minute with a dark horse offer but there are no rumors of any sudden bidding

  25. Shaw isn't a journeyman. He's only 29 and has played for just 2 teams his entire career. Boston & Milwaukee. He's had back to back 30+ HR / 90+ RBI seasons since he was traded to the Brewers (15 SB too). .800+ OPS both years. It's not just one big season. He's a very good ball player that plays multiple positions. Yes he's struggling this year, but teams don't punt on guys like Shaw just because a kid with a 33% K rate hit some homers over 60 ABs. Hiura has talent, and will get his shot, but the Brewers are running a franchise. Not a fantasy team.

  27. Yeah, it's not going to be the prettiest series ever, but no series with this Raptors team is going to be pretty because they are so good defensively. I mean nobody is going to say the Pistons championships were "pretty", but defense is key. This raptors has it in buckets (and they haven't even had OG all playoffs who is one of their best individual defenders). Lots of the shock-jock media are calling this over, but hey, it's their job to say dumb $hit really loud. This is a real series going on and fun to watch! Let's do it Raptors! Here is some info on what I have been talking about in

  28. You keep commenting on these stats as if they prove your point that he isn't shifty/elusive but the stats actually show the exact opposite. You do realize that right? He started 6 games last year, in those 6 games he was very good at evading tackles and creating his own yards. Trying to use a stat that measures season totals and comparing his 4 reg season starts against RB's that started most of the season makes zero sense. "Damian Williams ranked 77th in rushing last year with only 256 yards, the guy isn't even a good runner."

  29. When was the last time an elite prospect was called up, played really well, hit a 9th inning game tying HR, was significantly outplaying the other options at his position and was sent down? There will now be a significant portion of their own fan base (forget us fantasy players) that will be actively rooting for Shaw to fail miserably.

  30. Top 5 worst: 1. Carlos Correa getting a non happy ending and shattering ribs. 2. Gus Frerotte smashing head into pad after TD and realizing concrete is underneath and spraining neck. 3. Plaxico Burress shoots himself in leg in strict gun law state. 4. Joel Zumaya playing too much guitar hero and ruining arm. 5. Bill Gramatica celebrating a FG and tearing his acl.

  31. When a GM claims he was sent down “for organizational depth” and does preemptive Q and As with beat writers with one of the questions being “Are you manipulating service time”, it’s safe to say they are completely full of super sized number twos.

  33. How is Kimbrel different from Brasier ? A guy that can throw 95-97 but can’t find the plate. This isn’t kimbrel of 3 or more years ago .Becareful what you wish for

  34. I’m not suggesting super 2. Hiura has options, so they’re going to use them. They value organizational depth and want to do whatever they can to hold Aguilar, Thames, and Shaw. That’s more important to them than playing the best player, and that doesn’t happen in any other sport.

  35. WOW, someone actually compared minter with a guy who has 333 career saves and possible hall of famer?

  36. I mentioned it earlier in the thread but as a comp last year Greg Holland signed on 3/31 and was pitching in the bigs on 4/9. I think a 2 week turnaround is reasonable to expect from Kimbrel. And as others have mentioned I have no idea how he didn’t sign today. The past 2 weeks his agent should have been telling interested teams to have their best offers ready to go by today and that he’d make a decision by the end of the day and pack his bags and report tomorrow.

  37. Of course they were. They were allowed to sign him as well.

  39. One guy in particular I feel will be a steal is Darrell Henderson for the Rams. With the news about Gurley and the severity of his injuries being more founded, I think he could reap the benefits of that offense. If he ends up taking over as lead back behind their top tier offensive line, I think he could be a dark horse candidate for OROY

  40. Aguilar over the last 7 days is hitting .200 with 1 HR and 1 RBI. 14 days .083 1 HR 2 RBI, 28 days .209 1 HR 9 RBI. I havent watched Shaw a ton but what Ive seen, and scouting the stat line Aguilar shouldnt be part of any platoon at present and he cant play anything but 1B. The aguilar part of that platoon is and has been trash. A guy like Shaw (and Thames) would be a far more valuable platoon or bench bat, if he cant regain a full time role as far as MLB roster construction. Especially as teams go to short benches these days.

  42. I get it if you're in a year long roto league that needs stats, if you're annoyed. But if you're head to head on a weekly basis, this is probably one of the few closers that will most likely have a defined "closes every game" type role, which makes him very valuable in todays market. I don't know if I would say top 3 like above, but he WILL be must own, and I'm just happy if he's rolling by the time playoffs start

  43. Ridley hate here is foolish, but I love it. I won't even argue it. I'd rather it catch on and bring his cost down. We had 2 pages of great reasons why he's gonna kill his ADP and my mind is already made up and locked in. Nobody that rolls in here on a bad day and just starts shooting up the room for no reason is gonna change that. Now I just gotta figure out how late I can wait to grab him.
