  2. I was putting together a list of Holds guys the other day and I thought I'd share. Using Fangraphs' Depth Chart Projections, I sorted out the guys projected for 12 or more Holds and then sorted by K/BB and came up with this list. By no means is it perfect, but it outlines some guys to look at further. Brent Suter Emilio Pagan Seth Lugo Chad Green Ryan Pressly Yimi Garcia Yusmeiro Petit Tyler Duffey Will Harris Craig Stammen Matt Strahm Tommy Hunter Chris Devenski Sam Gaviglio Joe Smith Oliver Perez Emmanuel Clase (injured) Rafael Montero Nick Wittgren John Brebbia Ty Buttrey Jesse Chavez Diego Castillo Joakim Soria Sergio Romo

  4. I would like to thank you for considering me for the mock draft; however, I respectfully decline the invitation. After a dominating victory in mock draft 1, I don't think I have anything left to prove on rotoworld forum mock draft circuit until next offseason. Good luck to the competitors!

  5. Damian Lillard (right groin) is reportedly targeting a return to the court for Wednesday's home game against the Wizards. Lillard will be missing his sixth straight game tonight, but it sounds like he'll be back in action on Wednesday, giving him three games this week. The Trail Blazers are pushing for a playoff berth, so they need Lillard out there, although it will be interesting to see if he's rested on the back-to-back this weekend against Phoenix and Sacramento. He's still a semi-risky play in weekly settings. Hope he has back to full health

  7. It’s not the apocalypse but it’s a pretty different situation from the flu. Let’s say you’re a 30 year old dude getting cancer treatment. You can get a flu shot and have a pretty good chance of not dying when you’re exposed to the flu. If you’re exposed to a new virus like this in a pandemic situation, it’s a different ballgame. If it doesn’t end up too bad it’ll be because it’s taken seriously and proactively managed. Going the “lol it’s just like the flu” route as a society prob not very smart.

  8. Fellas, you guys seem to be not taking this corona virus serious enough even though a worldwide outbreak is starting. As someone in Hong Kong and seeing how the situation in Japan, Korea and italy starting to get out of hand, I sincerely suggest you guys to AT LEAST have a couple boxes of medical masks A few bottles of alcohol hand rub gel at home as precautions Wash your hands often DO NOT TOUCH your face ( rub eyes) without washing your hands before. You guys probably underestimated the strength of this Wuhan Corona Virus, this new virus is: 1. Highly contagious like the common flu 2. Serious patients (around 25% of infected patients) will have permanent damage to their lungs, thus affecting their vital capacity for the rest of their lives 3. This virus is particularly fatal to older patients. add on the fact that China had been hiding the facts about this whole situation, you can bet the fatal rate is higher than just 2%, then you would understand the concerns of athletes like CJ. Italy had already suspended their soccer games and the Tokyo olympics is really in jeopardy, as they are on the verge of cancelling it. Please don't take it lightly, starting to have signs of outbreak coming to US too, please try to get prepared my friend.

  12. In 2004, I drafted a young, up and coming starter by the name of Johan Santana for a couple of bucks in my auction keeper league. On June 1st he had an ERA over 5.00 so I waived him thinking I had just 'missed' on the player. He was claimed by at last place team. Johan had an 11.13 K9 and an ERA of 1.21 and went 13-0 in the 2nd half. He ended up winning the Cy Young Award. The owner that claimed him ended up winning the league in each of the next 3 seasons as I finished 2nd in each of those seasons.

  18. I agree success for Pats fans = SB wins. . .specifically the ones who jumped on the bandwagon. 😂 It would be interesting to see how many Pats fans convert to other teams post Brady as the Pats rebuild and become the doormat of the AFC. It could be similar to how Cleveland and Miami lost so many so called fans after Lebron James left those teams because they were actually Lebron fans and not team fans. All pats related threads in this forum will immediately have 75% fewer posters the minute Brady is not a Pat. 😂

  20. Fantrax all the way. You can do anything on Fantrax. Plus you dont have to deal with waiting for injury statuses on players. Don’t have to deal with crazy eligibilities and waiting for new eligibilities. Fantrax is always prompt on these two important subjects unlike ESPN or Yahoo. Also, Call-ups are immediately available in player pool the day they are called if they aren’t already in. Players owned %’s are much more accurate on where they should be when playing on Fantrax. If a player is owned in 15% of ESPN or Yahoo he’s usually owned in %45 of Fantrax leagues. Usually %30 higher. In other words the more competitive leagues have already jumped to Fantrax. On Fantrax front fantasy page you will find a breakdown comparison against the other sites. In that comparison Fantrax offers everything the other sites offer plus a boat load of additional options. Bottom line everything runs smooth. Well worth the switch. heck I bet if you wanted to you could split Ohtani into five players. Lol. Or keep as one or two lol. One thing you won’t be able to do is pick up K.GriffeyJr. out of the player pool(FA list) like you can still do on ESPN and Yahoo.

  21. Part is lack of faith in anyone else in that BP including Givens. Part is his pedigree. Not sure why anyone would care about his numbers as a starter. He had a 2.81 ERA with 33Ks to 7 BBs in 25.2 IP as a RP in the upper minors before his call up.

  22. Goes to show there’s a lot of people who have no idea what’s going on and picked him up for all the wrong reasons. Or with crazy expectations. If you look close enough it’s shallow leaguers that keep picking up dropping with consistent complaining. Same with the majority of these boards. Not sure why they picked him up in first place. People have a serious problem differentiating pick-ups for various league sizes. If people are in a 10 teamer what are they even doing in this thread. 10 teams he would be a streamer at best unless he got a clear starting gig. Not hard folks. He’s still a firm hold for the majority of people who roster him because they know what they’re doing and they know the value pertaining to their league size.

  26. I think it's fair to wonder what's happened to his peripheral stats. The dude averaged a combined 4.6 threes/steals/blocks per game in college and is down to 1.3 as a pro... which is part of the reason he's ranked at 172 in 9 cat. Punt FT% and he still has the value of a Brook Lopez or Marcus Smart. Punt FT% and TOs and that gets you to top 40ish value. He'll be a monster next year but right now two-cat players don't do much for me.

  28. Not quite that straightforward. Coronavirus fatality rate varies depending on age and if one has existing conditions. 14.8% if you're 80+ 8% if you're in your 70's 3.6% in 60's 1.3% in 50's 0.4% in 40's and 0.2% for 10-39 and no fatalities for children 0-9 recorded. Those with comorbidities have a 7-13.2% death rate, however pre-existing medical conditions also tend to be more common among the aged. One more factor that hasn't really hit the numbers yet given the small sample is the effect of medical responsiveness & capability of the regions who have seen the most cases. China with 80k cases and 2.9k deaths has a 3.63% overall fatality rate. (again w/o knowing the demographics of the affected areas we wouldn't be able to draw any conclusions. e.g. maybe Wuhan has a higher percentage of older people. Maybe their medical care isn't as good as say, South Korea or the US.) South Korea has 4.2k cases and 22 deaths or .5% overall fatality rate. Anyway, my 2 cents is based on these figures and the ages of the athletes, NBA players have what looks like a 0.2% chance of dying from coronavirus. One solution might be for the league to recommend those in attendance over the age of 50 to wear a mask and wash their hands before eating or touching their eyes.

  32. I agree both will be bad deals, especially the first one. While I personally dont think Woodruff will be better than Berrios (and Im a Brewers fan), adding Diaz is way too much. I think Berrios and Woodruff are close. I just dont like how the Brewers treat their SP going the 3rd time through the order. No way I give up a top 10 closer in Diaz (I believe he will rebound) and Woodruff for a slight upgrade to Berrios. McNeil > Benintendi IMO

  36. Aha! So the truth is revealed, you are not an actual Patriots fan, you are a bandwagon Brady Boy fan! 🤣 No true Patriots fan would knock Bledsoe in any capacity or diminish any of his accomplishments for the franchise. Bledsoe took the Patriots to their first playoff game in 8 years and then to a SB. Bledsoe inherited a 2 win team as a rookie and didn't have the luxury to sit behind a QB and "learn" how to be a QB and turn a losing franchise into a winner. Brady never inherited a 2 win team in a rebuild project, he never had to start with a loser, he had the benefit of a team that already had an identity of winning games and knowing they could make the postseason. With no Parcells+ Bledsoe establishing the winning culture there would be no legacy of Hoodie+Brady as a dominant dynasty. I love how Brady fans like to pretend they are Patriots fans and think the Patriots success started with Brady winning a SB 🤣

  37. How many seasons did Bill Belichick coach when Bledsoe was the full time starter? ONE. Pats defensive ranks with Bledsoe: 11,12, 25,14, 8, 14, 7, 17 Pats defensive ranks with Brady: 6 (Super Bowl), 17, 1(SB), 2(SB), 17, 2, 4, 5, 8,15, 9,10, 8(SB), 10, 1(SB), 5, 7(SB), 1 The Patriots had one defense ranked as high when Bledsoe played as they did the years Brady won SBs.........Bledsoe had no Belichick So...back to my original point. Brady gets too much credit in the early years. (Now starting to see always) Defensive ranks the years Brady won: 6,1,2, 8, 1, 7...all top 10. Just for fun. Pats offensive ranks with Brady : 6 , 10, 12, 4, 10, 7, 1, 6, 1, 3 4, 3, 3, 2, 4, 7 How many years that the team relied on Brady and the offense did the Pats win the Super Bowl? Never. Brady is a is a great QB so they always had a good offense. BUT.....BRADY'S best statistical years..... no SBs. Another fun fact. The Pats are 14-6 under Belichick when Brady hasn't played with QBs he's drafted. They were still the 8th ranked offense with a backup (Cassel) playing all season. They were the 3rd ranked offense when his missed 4 games.

  41. Now that this mock is complete, I'd like to share a bit about what my goals were, what went right, and what didn't exactly go according to plan. The sense I got throughout the offseason was that everyone believes they need to come away from the early rounds with two things: 1. A workhorse ace SP, loosely defined as 200+ IP of 10+ K/9, a sub-3.5 ERA, and a sub 1.2 WHIP), and 2. A strong foundation of SBs, loosely defined as 40+ bags in the first 5 rounds. My thinking heading into this was that if everyone's buying into these as goals, there are going to be buying opportunities for other players, and while I wasn't going to pass on a good value if I saw one, I'd try to see if I could go against the grain and build a competitive team without paying inflated prices for aces and bases. According to the projections, at least, the results are mixed. My team is projected to finish a close third overall, with by far the best hitting stats (~20% higher than the 2nd best) and by far the worst pitching (12% worse than the 2nd worst pitching). Offense-wise, the team is projected to get 12, 11, and 11 standings points out of 12 from HR, R, and RBI respectively, and a respectable 8 in OBP. I thought I'd built a really strong base of OBP opening with Bellinger, Judge, and Alvarez, but clearly I ate into it too much with picks later in the draft, and didn't seek out enough help in the category in the middle rounds. In the SB category, which I didn't address until the 13th round with Mallex Smith, the projections have me getting 6 points. Astute observers may remember me expressing concern about the Mallex strategy in his outlook thread, and the numbers back this up. He didn't singlehandedly propel me to the top of the category, and he surely hurt me in others compared to other picks I could have made in the 13th round. At the same time, the SB category is so bunched and fluky that trying to compete in it made more sense than punting. Pitching-wise, I feel like I left a lot of money on the table. I felt fine about Luis Castillo and Aaron Nola as my SP1 and SP2, and Glasnow as an SP3 in the 7th felt great as well. Unfortunately, I waited too long to get back to taking arms, waiting until the 15th to take my SP4, by which point Kenta Maeda was the best available. In a 12-team league, that's not going to cut it, as my team's ghastly 1/1/2 points from K, ERA, and WHIP clearly show. Overall, despite these findings, I still feel like this strategy can work. I'd rather come out of a draft with the best offense and worst pitching than vice-versa, simply because pitching is more volatile with injuries and wild swings in performance. I think I'd like to try a more balanced version of this that doesn't ignore starting pitching for 7 rounds in a row and see what happens, though I don't think I'll be doing this in the next forum mock. Anyone else have any thoughts on how things went, what they might have done differently, etc.?
