  1. Nah... SARS entire worldwide epidemic effected less then 10% of the people currently dealing with Covid alresdy. It was not a huge threat. Bird flu and swine flu were no more deadly than regular flu (perhaps even slightly less so). Zika was mainly a tropical disease and mainly an issue for pregnant women: not a big concern. Ebola is a horrendous disease but it’s incredibly easy to isolate and contain in the first world: that was never getting out of Africa by more than a random case here or there (and it’s not airborne). This is quite a unique threat in our lifetime

  2. I cringe when I see people comparing this to SARS or Y2K or Ebola or whatever. That's some abysmal hot takes. Those issues had the potential to be catastrophic. Do you know why they weren't pandemics? Because, basically, we had competent leadership that put experts in place and gave them funding/listened to them. Do you know we're currently lacking? Competent leadership that is putting experts in place and giving them funding. This thing is in the United States and it's going to spread because this has been handled in a manner of incompetence that, to put it in baseball terms, would be the equ

  11. Ignore cable news and listen to experts. While cable news was manufacturing fear about ebola, experts were saying it was no major danger to the first world, as Marlin said. They always said Zika was a danger to pregnant women, and it was. From what I've heard, experts are very concerned about this one. It won't be the end of the world, but it could be quite a big deal that kills thousands.

  16. AFAIK Viruses don't really care how fancy your accommodations are. Moreover, we don't really know ourselves about these things, which is evident with all the disagreement. They are known unknowns. Some players might know they don't know and just not chance it. Or think they know what they don't know and believe it is the end of the world even if it isn't. Look at 9/11. While tragic, in the grand scheme of things a handful of maniacs killed a few thousand people and blew up a couple buildings. The country was in a state of hysteria for arguably years. Both parties agreed we shou

  20. Here’s a little more about what you’re referencing regarding Cease locating his fastball down in the zone: I have to admit I can’t remember a player I’ve done a complete 180 on like I have with Cease. Six months ago I was certain he’d be on my DND list this year, but I’m now aggressively targeting him. I’m hopeful these offseason changes he’s been talking about help him reach his enormous potential. At his ADP you’re not forced to start him nor depend on him to be a regular.

  21. I don't really get this. Like I don't think it's WRONG, but if you're gonna knock down KAT for how his injuries might affect him, can't you do the same to Durant? They're the same to me, basically: we don't know how these injuries will affect them next year, but if the injuries don't bother them, they're easy top five guys. How can you put one over the other with any certainty?

  23. Is this a keeper or a redraft? In either format, if I was a judge owner, I’d be ecstatic to get Eloy at this point. They weren’t THAT far apart to begin with. 2017 was likely judges career year regardless of health. The ticking time bomb future injury potential, compromised injury related production, and possibility of missing a full to entire season (David Dahl same injury) make this a very easy one in my opinion.

  33. Don’t listen to Rush, he’s a forum troll. This is a horrible trade for you. Seager is significantly better than Reyes. People are undervaluing him based on his last injury but he’s miles above Reyes. Better average, more SB‘s, more Runs, more RBI. The only area Reyes will win at is HR.

  35. Very safe investment. Coors hides the warts. If he ever gets dealt the wheels might fall off. But as long as he’s in Coors he safe for 100+ runs, 25+ homers 80+ RBIs, .850+ OPS. Very durable had 634+ plate appearances 6 years in a row. He’s over 30 also so Bud Black won’t mess with him. Which is the huge plus.

Hitting an HR off a guy experimenting with a new pitch shouldn't carry over, but if you can get it over the plate without being bombed you can get it over the plate.

  40. I can’t find a single hitter that underwent resection of the first rib. It’s been fairly common in pitchers for thoracic outlet syndrome and recovery takes about 6 months for them. For a hitter 3 or 4 months seems like a pretty good guess because it’s a pretty invasive procedure. I actually think the odds of him getting the surgery aren’t too high. Purely speculating but my guess is the fracture was missed in his first sets of tests which is rather common with this injury (though is no excuse for a billion dollar organization). He’s probably had a dull aching in the shoulder over the

  42. Haha ok. I guess these (and these are only recent ones) are all just talking football, and not trying to get under anyone's skin? Is this just the new bitter style of "talking football?" LOL. Patriots fans are smart enough to know when people just aren't fans and are able to discuss it logically. The way you refer to them is designed to be argumentative and get under people's skin and saying otherwise doesn't really mean anything since there is evidence to the contrary. You either intentionally try to get under people's skin here, are very bitter, or both.
