  1. Mookie Betts homered in a 3-for-4 effort, but the Red Sox were handed a 4-2 loss by the Braves on Monday.

Was Betts wearing Bogaerts' jersey for an at-bat?

    no sense stopping there..

Betts got the Red Sox on the board in the seventh inning, hitting a solo home run off of reliever Dana Eveland to make it a 4-1 game. He added an RBI single in the ninth inning in an attempt to incite a comeback, but the Red Sox came up short again. Betts has seven home runs, 27 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and a .246/.303/.388 triple-slash line on the year.

    impressive.

  2. Maybe just be a little patient? It's early in the year and everyone is trying to watch these streams. Give it time to settle down..

I'm sure it is hard for some people to be patient when they are paying for a service. MLB.TV requires their payment upfront, so for some folks they would expect the service to work properly when the season starts.

this. be patient? we pay $170. this is the umpteenth year mlb.tv is running, so you expect them to have their sh*t together from the get go. this isn't a new product. and also opening week is what everyone has been anticipating all winter...it's arguably their most important week of the season.

  3. The lag has been a beef of mine for years, going back to when they used that disastrous NexDef plugin. Now you don't need it and I think it has improved this year. I usually run the ESPN FantasyTracker and they're pretty well in sync. The notifications are off, though, and your player is likely a few pitches into the AB once it shows up.

I don't use the split/PIP modes as much, but I'll play with them more. I've always had a few quibbles with MLB.tv, but it's still by far the best sports streaming service I've seen and I just can't quit it with the excitement I feel each year when it's time to re-up.

yeah u nailed it...it's the best out and it still brings me a tonnn of joy lol so i'm not going to not shell the money. that being said, 3 years ago, it was live live, in sync. that was when there was that next def thingy, so not sure what's happened since. also the PIP stuff i'm talking about where it basically kills both videos when toggling, or loading the PIP, this also never used to happen so it's def annoying. ah well, still a solid product.

  4. i'm pretty frustrated with this product, yet again. i keep re-upping b/c i don't know if there's a comparable product out there. but my main problems are 1) this was the case last year too, but it's not LIVE, it's delayed a minute or so.

    anyone know any solutions?

Dont have Gameday up on that game.

except if you've ever used gameday along the top shows every game and men on base, outs, score etc. so it becomes a game of hiding the game you're watching which means when you want to check other box scores you're basically just trying not to look at your game as you go. not the best solution you see..

  5. i'm pretty frustrated with this product, yet again. i keep re-upping b/c i don't know if there's a comparable product out there. but my main problems are 1) this was the case last year too, but it's not LIVE, it's delayed a minute or so. so if you happen to have say mlb gameday open, that could ruin it for you. also the player tracker feature seems to be more LIVE than the actual video, so b/c I have for example Bogaerts and Betts on my fantasy team and they are close in batting order, I see Betts notification pop up that he's now on deck, and there's an out, so I know Bogaerts got out before the video actually shows me such. so annoying. 2) whenever i bring up a split screen option or picture in picture, the original video rebuffers, and often jumps ahead to a closer to LIVE feed. this happens whenever i toggle between the 2 feeds. ultra annoying.

there are other things, but those are the most annoying. anyone know any solutions?

  6. ^^ love the weeknd. one of the few artists i can honestly say i can listen to entire discography and enjoy it front to back without needing to skip anything. extremely rare for me.

speaking of things OVO this gem dropped today. this might just be my favourite track of the year. not a whole lot of lyrical value, but the sound, the beat, the vocals...i'm in love. if you enjoy the weeknd you'll probably enjoy this too.

  7. Ian Kennedy settles for a no-decision in first start back from DL

    by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

(12:03 am ET) Padres starting pitcher Ian Kennedy wasn't a factor into the decision in his first start back from the disabled list Saturday night at home against the Braves. The right-hander permitted one run on two hits and five walks while striking out seven over five innings of work.

Over his last five starts covering 32 innings, Kennedy has allowed nine earned runs. He owns a 3.59 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 23 starts (140 1/3 innings). His next start will come Saturday against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

CBS must have their own DL since he never went on Major League Baseball's DL..

  8. J Altuve to third on wild pitch by J Verlander, J Altuve scored on throwing error by catcher A Avila.

yet Verlander is charged with an earned run, why? He struck out the next batter to end the inning. That makes zero sense.

Singleton grounded out next. then there was a strikeout.

either way it was kinda BS b/c altuve was out by a mile if there was no throwing error. bad luck there.

  9. CBS must hire their blurb writers from the same pool Rotoworld does..

Andrew Heaney likely moving to Triple-A

    by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

(11:40 am ET) Marlins outfielder Andrew Heaney will likely be promoted to Triple-A soon, according to the Miami Herald.

The club currently lists its Thursday starter as "to be announced." That mystery pitcher will likely be Heaney. The organization has reportedly considered a promotion for Heaney for a while, so the move makes sense. If he performs well at Triple-A, there's a chance Heaney sees time in the majors this year.

at least they didn't stick with the outfielder theme throughout it's entirety, although that would have been awesome.

  10. Every year MLB tv is borderline unwatchable for the first week of the season (this is when everybody is tuning into every game). Once the excitement of the new season wears off some, it'll begin to be lag free (usually after the first week).

MLBAM refuses to invest in more/better servers to meet the early demand. It has been doing this every year since it started basically.

i don't know i've been watching for a few years and don't recall a time delay. we're not referring to "laggyness" ie. "choppyness", but the fact that all video is following like a 60 second time delay (seems to be about 3 pitches or so give or take). but yeah don't ever remember this, personally.

  11. Just as a FYI, I've been running into the annoying problem of video lag when using the "new" player that doesn't require NextDef. I've found it runs anywhere from 1-4 pitches behind, which sucks when trying to follow the games live with your fantasy team. The StatTracker basically acts as a spoiler. The "old" player is still online and it always played the games truly live when used without NextDef (obviously removing the DVR capability, but whatever). If you want to use the old player, launch the games from this link: http://mlb.mlb.com/m...jsp?nexdef=true

yeah this has been really annoying. everything else is great. so you're saying with the old player, it's live, but we lose DVR capabilities? I actually like the DVR so if I missed a great play from one of my guys i can go into the game and rewind.

also last year i had some problems that were really annoying. example, lets say i open the tigers game, and i want to switch to dodgers game, well that was fine, until i wanted to switch back to tigers game, and it just would never let me. it wouldn't load, and i'd have to close program (losing my picture in picture games etc) and load tigers game. this year that problem is no longer, and i can toggle through games repeatedly in any order, multiples times back to same game etc. so i'm loving the new version this year, but this time delay might be too much for me to bear. like you, i frequent box scores and mlb gameday as i'm watching, and this becomes frustrating when trying to avoid key information that's already taken place.

I've found that if you run that player without NexDef installed, it plays everything live and without delay - but no DVR. If you run the link with NexDef installed, you have the DVR but the delay is back. I have to think this is an issue they're trying to work out with the new player. No minute amount of visual improvement is worth a 30-second+ delay.

What is NexDef (forgive my lack of tech-savyness). Was that the thing on last player that let you watch in multiple different quality of picture? like 5 levels or something? or is it the DVR capability? I can't watch the baseball if it's blurry or not in HD. i can but i'd probably rather the 40 second delay. but i would have to imagine they MUST fix this issue soon as i cannot see ppl being too happy about this delay. i can't imagine this was the end-game plan for them.

  13. Lag is about 60 seconds for me today. Let's hope it's just opening day bugs.

yeah this will become very annoying if this persists all year. i basically can't look at box scores as i'm watching b/c mlb.tv is well behind real time.

  14. 2 straight walks, followed by 2 straight Ks lol. he seems to know how to flash just enough for silly owners like myself to stay believing..

Against the fearsome double team of Brendan Ryan and Endy Chavez. Straily looks awful. 56 pitches through an inning and two thirds against the freakin Mariners.

he does look awful tonight. i meant in general though; aside from his era (i realize it's a bit silly to say that..) his numbers look solid (whip, hr, k rate, opp ba, etc).

  15. another HIGHLY annoying issue with my PC version, is that when i'm doing PIP between 2 games, lets say I want to change the game in the top right corner to something else, no problem, but if i want to go back to that previous game, i simply cannot. basically if you change off a game, you can NEVER go back...unless you close the program and start up again. it's so friggin annoying. is that just mine or are all of yours like this too?

  16. I live in Canada but I don't get Jays games blacked out. Am I just lucky?

nope we are in the same boat! I only realized this last month since it changed this season. The Jays don't have an official cable provider anymore (for example YES for the Yankees, NESN for the Red Sox). It has been Rogers Sportsnet for over a decade but CBC airs some weekend games once NHL season is over and TSN has the rights to about a dozen games. So even though Sportsnet airs over 95% of the games they are no longer the sole cable provider. The blackouts are put in place to protect cable companies and luckily for us this no longer affects us.

interesting, good to know. i never even tried jays games this year b/c i assumed they'd be blacked out here in toronto (they were last year). nice info.

  17. does anyone else experience freezing, especially as soon as a game loads up? that happens 100% of the time on my PC (never on my phone 'at bat'). and days like today, there's just been a lot of freezing overall, even after the initial load. only lasted for an inning or so today, but other days it's been bad at times. my phones never had issues streaming, ever; never freezes.
