  1. You should have a quality backup if you are making a superbowl run (ie Dallas last season). Miami had Fitz last year because Tua's medical condition left doubts about when he could start iirc. If you are in rebuilding mode, you'd rather tank the season if your rookie QB is no good, Arizona did it corrrctly with Rosen and ended up drafting Kyler Murray. The Jets will probably bring in a vet QB to back up whomever they draft, and it will cost them less than 5M for 1 year.
  2. Not worth it with how the team is being rebuilt. They're better off just rolling out their rookie QB and letting the cards fall where they may.
  3. It looks like a 22 million dollar cap hit for his contract. The Jets have 24 million in cap space but will need about 16 million in cap space for their rookie pool. They'll have a lot of draft picks to sign. https://overthecap.com/draft/
  4. I don't think it's a bad move for the Jets. The Rotoworld blurb seemed to think the fact that the 2nd and 4th rounders are one season out meant they were "majorly discounted". But generally speaking a 1 round discount is applied for each out year, but even that can be ignored in some situations. The Jets were going to get a third round comp pick if they let Darnold walk after next year, and they would have had to pay him for the year. The whole league knew the Jets wanted to move him. To get a second, fourth and sixth plus the salary off the books is a huge win. On the football s
  5. Bridgewater is due 20M this year, part of the reason the Jets did this if they draft a rookie QB was to keep the cost of their QB position low. That's what Joe Douglas saw work in Philly. On a side note, the Jets now have an awful lot of draft capital to work with if they wanted to make another trade.
  6. That's a pretty good haul considering the situation.
  7. Maybe they asked Robby Anderson?
  8. I think that could be a steal for Denver. Darnold has been in some pretty bad situations, I think he could be a good QB with better players around him. Or at the very least it's still up in the air. With it becoming more obvious the Jets will take a QB and they want to move Darnold, his price will drop the closer we get to the draft. Personally, if I were the Jets I'd keep Darnold another year, draft a rookie QB and see how it goes.
  9. It's not a bad signing as far as risk/reward imo. If I had to bet on what the Jets are going to do at QB, it would be trading Darnold and picking a QB. That simply has to do with the economics of the situation, Darnold is due to get paid after next season, drafting a QB gives the Jets much more cap room to work with....Ideally they'd just keep Darnold if he were better than whoever they have graded as the #2 QB, but I doubt that is what they're thinking.
  10. The Jets need WRs, and Davis is only 26 years old. The guaranteed part of the contract is 2 years 20 million dollars. I'd expect the Jets to add more recievers here, they could possibly cut Crowder to save 10M this season, but with the state of the WRs being what it is they might just let him play out the year for the 10M. Jets GM Joe Douglas typically wants to build through the draft and aquire younger players in free agency. If the Jets are signing more WRs in free agency, I'd expect younger WRs like Juju or Will Fuller before guys like TY Hilton or Alshon Jeffery.
  11. It only took 2 hours for his agent to shoot down the Jets and Dolphins. 😀 Also, his Agent listing teams that he'll play for in public is basically asking those teams to call for a trade.
  12. He has less carries on his body than most great running backs did by his age. He's just a player that fits well in a particular scheme. He should have fit better with the Chiefs, but how much work should he have gotten after joining the team in the middle of the pandemic season? If Bell is content being a backup or competing for touches he should go to a team that has a system that would fit his running style well... Denver or Vegas would make sense.
  13. If they're looking for a cheap WR to pair with Josh Allen's skill set, John Ross III would be interesting.
  14. Imagine the Jets calling and offering their first round picks for 21 and 22 and Seattle's first round picks in 21 and 22. 🤣
  15. https://nypost.com/2021/02/10/texans-reporter-if-they-traded-him-it-would-be-to-the-jets/ Plugged-in Texans reporter: If Deshaun Watson gets traded ‘it would be to the Jets’ John McClain, who has covered the NFL at the Houston Chronicle for more than 45 years, said on SportsRadio 610 in Houston that the Texans remain firm behind the scenes in their public stance about not trading quarterback Deshaun Watson. Unless the Jets convince them otherwise. There is a caveat that will have New York – and the rest of the AFC East – buzzing. “Anybody who says [the Texans] called the Ea
  16. How many people in this organization think they should have meaningful input on a new GM? Of these people, how many realize teams were calling the Patriots about Nick Caserio for around the past 5 years? This isn't like the Texans hired someone out of left field.
  17. I think beating Taylor Heinicke in the wild card round by 8 points has to solidify Brady as a top 10 QB of his era.
  18. 49ers may be interested in Sam Darnold.
  19. Yeah he did nothing in that regular season game vs KC this season....
  20. He was the player I was most impressed with in this game. Very gutsy performance, and made some beautiful throws on the run that ended up incomplete through no fault of his own.
  21. I'm very happy for Todd Bowles and Kacy Rodgers. I'm not happy about the Jets screwing up their shot at Lawerence, but the two are unrelated.
  22. The funny part is Brady wouldn't have even made it through this game if he were starting for KC.
  23. Did Manning win a golf game or something today?
  24. Right. How many teams have a great backup left tackle? The reality is most teams can't win with multiple injuries on their OL, many don't even have a decent backup LTs or swing linemen that can play LT well.
