  1. Exactly, though within your tolerance level for risk, of course. Roco (when healthy) gets a huge boost in punt-assist and Smart gets a nice one as well, but they're going to hit your FG% enough to warrant doing the math first. Smart + Rozier + Roco would be a lot to stomach even with your bigs, for instance. Gotta be careful weighing things out.

And not sure of your nightly roster rules, but you can definitely get away with only three PG-designated guys on your roster if that's where trades/drops takes you. I've managed it with two for long stretches, but you will lose a game here and there to the schedule gods. My league is a 10-teamer so I can't judge 12-teams perfectly, but my guess is your four PGs are not going to keep you competitive in assists, so unless they fit the build well, bounce at least one of them for someone who does of really any position.

  2. Impossible to provide too much insight without knowing who else is being kept and therefore whose available round by round, but (and now I feel like I'm just going post to post suggesting this) I'd punt assists rather than chase the stats. Guessing there will be a healthy amount of top-tier guards being kept based on experience. AD / Embiid / Jrue is enough to see you through the early part of the season until PG gets back, so I wouldn't overdo it on injury management in the early rounds. Are there any wings worth a second-rounder expected to be available when it comes to you?

  3. Honestly, not seeing any sort of deal I'd like for your squad here, and Jrue/Simmons/Hay-Maybe-He'll-Be-Okay-Ward certainly isn't it. Maybe If he was giving you Jrue, Simmons, and Otto, but I'd have to take a closer look at what kinda categorical havoc that would wreak, and it's probably more than he could stomach anyway.

That being said, I'd definitely look to turn some of these guards into SFs and bigs. Wright for Powell or something like that. Right now your opportunity to take advantage of the second C spot is really limited.

  4. Punt assists, punt them now. Keep focusing your bench on wings and combo guards who get steals and hit threes. If you can turn Lonzo / Rozier / White into more build-friendly assets (i.e. don't derive significant value from assists) that don't obliterate your percentages, that would be swell. Thybulle is a good swing.

Punt assists really allows you to focus on guys other teams won't value as highly, so it opens some opportunities for trade and the wire, especially with the ludicrous PF/Cs you have. You can stomach guys who won't score, board, or block much.

  5. 10-team, H2h, $200 Auction, 7 Keepers

    $42 Paul George (k)
    $27 Rudy Gobert (k)
    $18 Donovan Mitchell (k)
    $5 Danilo Gallinari (k)
    $2 Buddy Hield (k)
    $1 Malcolm Brogdon (k)
    $1 Mitchell Robinson (k)
    $25 Kyle Lowry
    $21 Tobias Harris
    $20 Clint Capela
    $16 Mike Conley
    $10 TJ Warren
    $6 Zach Collins
$0 Kevon Looney (picked up for Evan Fournier [$2])

Punt assist team build. Lowry was a luxury grab when I found I had way more cash than I was going to need halfway in so I overspent on the top point guard left on the board to hedge the punt a little and/or use as trade asset. Definitely need to find some more steals while Paul George is out. I'm currently refreshing Yahoo! every ten minutes waiting for him to get put back on INJ rather than O and watching the guys I wanted to grab fly off the wire (so long, OG Anunoby ... ), so ... infuriated. Hoping for strong starts from a few players so I can package them for a first-rounder. AD and KAT owners looks like they're gonna be bad right away [cracks knuckles] so you can bet I'll be throwing out Capela / Point Guard X / Useful Throw-in packages in a month) and most of my guys cycle out of keeper eligibility this season, so I need to make a trade while guys still think they can compete. Picking up Looney was admittedly excessive, but I think I've got the bandwidth to see if he pops while WCS is injured and not cost myself.

Good luck, folks. Be careful out there.

I'd keep Bridges or Bryant over George.  He's going to be out for a month, rested after that, and $42 is a steep price anyway.

Oof, this is the rough sauce right here. Coming in with the hard truths.

I've definitely considered seeing what I can get for him on the pre-draft market. Just not ready to accept the possibility yet after the job he did for me last season. Getting a guy who can flirt with top-5 value when healthy for under $50 was pretty key for me last season. Gambling on his post-return health is a risk I might still take.

You already have a pretty solid punt AST lineup going there. I would target Steph in a trade. His high volume on good % for a guard is devastating in punt AST. Maybe a package of Mitchell + Gallo + Bridges would do it? That would even allow you to keep Bryant, who should be a very solid punt AST contributor. Curry (61), George (42), Gobert (27), Bryant (5), Hield (2), Robinson (1), and Brogdon (1) leaves you with $61 to play with. With that budget I would grab a 4th star to complement Steph, PG, and Gobert for around $35-$45. Then fill the rest of your roster with guys under $5 who contribute stocks and dont hurt %s too bad. Good luck!

Yea, punt assists was the plan last year and really worked, definitely doubling down.

The Curry owner is open to moving him, though he's trying to push Kyrie at a cheaper price. Not my thing.

As far as the middle-tier salary to add, I do have Middleton at $27 as a keeper option. Consistency was an issue last season for the price, though.

Other keeper options for the record:
    Jerami Grant ($5)
    Dewayne Dedmon ($1)
    Serge Ibaka ($4)
    Paul Millsap ($11)
    Chris Paul ($36)

No one who's likely to pop, but I loved having Grant last season, just wish he was a little cheaper. Think he'll still be undervalued and I can draft him for less. Dedmon was money down the stretch, but no idea what to make of his likely role in Sacrament. Worth the cost, but not worth tying up a roster spot before the draft, maybe?

Great feedback, by the way. Really appreciated.

  8. In general, I want nothing to do with the Kyrie headache.

That being said though, it probably hinges on what kind of pick you can get back. I think Collins's upside this season is a little overstated until we see defensive stats. Still, I think I'd be happy with Collins and a solid pick.

  9. H2H Auction ($200) / Standard 9-CAT / 14 roster spots

Well hello there, fantasy hoops junkies. I look forward to bumping this when the season starts closing in, but I'm all jacked up about hoops since free agency began so I'm just gonna drop it here now, get it out of my brain, and let it marinate.

We went auction last year to great fanfare. Keeping up to seven players per team. I've got eight I like, nine who I could see being desirable as far as a trade package might go. Anyone got early thoughts? Options as follow, above the line are my presumptive seven to this point:

    $42 Paul George
    $27 Rudy Gobert
    $18 Donovan Mitchell
    $5  Danilo Gallinari
    $2  Buddy Hield
    $1  Mitchell Robinson
    $1  Malcolm Brogdon

    $96 TOTAL
    $3  Miles Bridges
    $5  Thomas Bryant

I might be overrating Miles Bridges, but right now I'm inclined to bump him to a keeper. Lots of opportunity, finished strong, CHEAP, and I'd get him at the price for another year after this. Thinking about packaging Gallo + 1 and turning them into an improved keeper. Gallo + Donovan Mitchell could probably fetch a swell return and open up some cap. Gallo was a huge WW pickup for me last season, and he'll eat if he sticks in OKC, but I think I think making good on him as a cheap trade asset is a smart move versus expecting another (relatively) healthy season. Donovan Mitchell, while a delight to own, is also the most expendable mid-range salary on my roster. Gotta give something to get something, y'know?

I've looked at making offers for big-salary keepers ($61 Curry, $64 KAT) and a tier below but on a cheap contract (Vucevic for $9).

Also, if anyone has been considering switching over to auction league, keeper or not .. good lord, pull the trigger. Find new friends if you have to.

  10. I don't see a clear drop for a guy struggling to stay healthy and losing ground to a deep roster every time he goes down. I only kept him after he came back because I had a guy like Kleber to lose, and a first-round bye locked up. But it was close.

Harris and Siakam will be fine. Leave the headache for someone else.

  11. Dropping Plumlee is definitely an option with Millsap back in action, though I can see maybe want to stick it out a bit longer until Millsap's ankle doesn't flare up again.

Kawhi, Beal, Vuc, and Holiday is a pretty stellar four to keep in a 20-teamer already. But yes, as far as guys not likely to be kept, something like Middleton/Kuzma would your most valuable package that doesn't deplete your PG depth to zilch. I'd be looking for a studly-ish PG or big man on a team struggling with depth, you seem pretty flush with SFs. If you're ranking okay in blocks already maybe poke around Lauri Markkanen? Really though, suggesting specific players in a vacuum will only help so much not knowing the team constructions and records.

  12. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to make this call until after the break.

Used up both add/drops on Mitchell Robinson and Beverley already (again, assumed Denver would hold Millsap and Harris out through All-Star), and we have a league rule about getting guys off the IR the day after they make their return to action. Is .. is Millsap my drop at this point in the season? I know the playoff schedule is money, but good lord the dude has been brutal, and that Denver team is loaded. I'm probably just being too optimistic on the outlooks for Kleber/Beverley/Robinson, but needed to have some sense talked into me.

    WHIR if ya need it.
