  1. Reds and Cubs going to get this one in?
  2. Has there been anything on the locals about which 'new' Marlins players tested positive? Thought there would be something out by now. As a Villar and Aguilar owner, any update is appreciated.
  3. Howard's debut may get put on hold now. With the Phillies v. Yanks game postponed tonight, and possibly the series, I suspect they will just let their starters go on normal rest.
  4. Any report of who the other players are that are positive?
  5. It is fantasy relevant, or at least can be. Jose Ramirez, I believe, linked being a new father to his early struggles last year.
  6. Add Jesus Luzardo. Nothing mentioned about his symptoms. Hopefully, he gets cleared shortly. Would hate to see his season derailed by this.
  7. Come on guys, we all know he would have been training hard but for COVID interrupting his workout schedule.
  8. Not sure there is any guarantee that Kemp is anointed the DH. It was a decent signing, probably just to see if he has anything left, if not they let him go. For sure, he could get some ABs and run with the job, I just don't think we are anywhere close to that yet.
  9. Ya, I laughed a bit at this one when I read the RW blurb. Tyson Ross was released, then waits, and when seemingly has no offers says "ya, I'm not playing either", in attempt to save face. GL Tyson, your career is likely done.
  10. Value for next season and on-going? Absolutely. While there's no guarantee that Sale returns to the same dominance as he did pre-injury, the reward is too high, imo, to just let him go for nothing. There is a history of guys that have come back from TJS as strong or stronger, so for me, the risk is worth keeping him because if he does come back he's arguably a top 5 SP-ace.
  11. Looks like I spoke too soon. Of course, the caveat should have also been this is a truly unique season where outside the usual injuries that we have a pandemic. ha. There may be an opportunity for some ABs from the get-go, provided they are not concerned about service time. Again, I would suggest ppl read the articles in the Spencer Howard thread.
  12. There are two good articles, you can find the links to them in the "Spencer Howard" thread. They speak to how the Phils may use Bohm and Howard with service time considerations. The GM, in the second piece, suggests that there are contingencies they will have to evaluate. All that said, I think Bohm will be given some PA's this year but it's just speculation right now as to how many. The Phils may opt to give Jay Bruce a number of at-bats, and on his weak side, platoon him with Bohm and/or give guys like McCutcheon and Realmuto days off from the filed but keep their bats in the lineu
  13. It's a possibility. That said, here are the thoughts from the GM from the Philadelphia Inquirer: https://www.inquirer.com/sports/phillies-covid-19-spencer-howard-alec-bohm-opening-day-roster-20200629.html
  14. Just listed him in the sleeper thread, think last year's second half was a turning point. As always with AD, he's gotta stay healthy but think he has the upside you are looking for in a deep draft.
  15. I think DeSclafani and Houser are a couple SP that will outperform their draft slot.
  16. So for Fantrax, once he starts 5 games he should qualify for SP? Is that everyone's belief using that site? I am in a weekly league, so I am happy to use him in Util when he is in the lineup opposed to pitching, but he's much more valuable if you can use him as an SP the day he is scheduled to pitch.
  17. Well, the NTSB report is important for a number of reasons. It speaks to there not being an issue with the plane in terms of manufacturing, maintenance, etc., which you can appreciate could be significant on a number of levels depending on what caused the plane to crash. At the end of the day, the Report concludes that drugs in the system and the way the pilot (Halladay) was operating the plane in the moments before the crash were the cause of same. It's REALLY unfortunate. And I do understand the human element, but it is also the reality of the situation. Many times loved ones 'want answe
  18. The one of George Bell and Sele above took me back to when I was a kid. This was before all televised games, so there is not a vid I could find of the full-on brawl, but the below has the clip (twice) of Bell with a whicked kick and punch after being hit by Bruce Kison in 1985. Man, those mid-80's Jays teams were pretty exciting. The clip is a more recent interview and provides his perspective as to why he did what he did.
  19. Did he list any examples of guys to avoid then?
  20. Ya, I would say Marte is the better comparison there. The power spiked a bit last season, but the speed is real. I would think 12-15hrs (possibly a few more) and 30-35sb (possibly more if Francona gives him the green light) is realistic. Could also be a good source of runs if he hits 1 or 2 in that order for the whole season.
  21. It's going to be interesting to see what goes on, for sure. Another scenario I would anticipate, knowing that they have a DH, is to roll out the Ace in the first game to let them go deep, so the weaker link is starting game two (or they use an opener) then they will keep the bullpen fresh for the second game.
  22. I wouldn't think starters would be the issue, rather closers. Guys like Verlander, Kershaw, etc., can easily throw what will now be a "CG". I would think that leagues where certain categories, like QS are involved would be influenced.
  23. Bizarre. I can not imagine, even with COVID-19, that an orthopaedic surgeon and a couple staff are the reason he has not gone under the knife.
  24. Out of curiosity what size league/settings did he go third round?
  25. There is a subscription requirement affixed to the link. What does it say?
