  1. FWIW, I've noticed multiple of his line drives turn into outs.
  2. Gallo's power plays in the Grand Canyon. So no.
  3. They noted on the broadcast last night that since July of last year (a full year of ABs) he has the highest OPS in MLB.
  4. Didn't he sit against the last lefty they faced?
  5. I'm a big McNeil fan and think he'll be much more valuable this time next year. Reminds me of Daniel Murphy.
  6. I understand the hesitancy in overvaluing spring training stats, but McMahon does pass the eye test so far this year. Should be interesting to watch.
  7. Been awhile no doubt. But that is not something owners will point to in May and beyond.
  8. Where you saying this during Spring Training last year?
  9. Colorado has traditionally relied on the 3-run HR. And for good reason. Having said that, if used properly, Hampson could be a huge weapon at the top of the lineup. OBP + Speed + at least average power + defense. Give it time to play out. i will admit that I generally dislike owning young players for Colorado and Tampa.
  10. I'm not a McMahon owner (I own Hampson), but I feel that McMahon will be given the strong side platoon to start. It's up to him to take advantage of it. Hampson has more versatility and better defense, which will likely get him in the lineup more and more throughout the season. I wouldn't overreact to anything for either player. Just stash and let it play out (if you can). FWIW, I think McMahon's situation will be evident quicker than Hampson's.
  11. Saw this in a Denver Post article this morning. not sure if there is anything to take away from it, but it was specifically brought up in the article. Worth noting: Manager Bud Black purposely used McMahon off the bench to see how McMahon would perform in that role.
  12. Absolutely. It looked to me like the hits off him were because the hitter was looking fastball and knew it would be in the zone. That is probably why his changeup is double plus. He catches hitters in that mode and they look silly flailing at it. I also agree that at this point of his development, you want him commanding his fastball in the zone. Once he learns how and when to put it a little farther off the zone, he'll get some chases. Especially if he elevates it. That combined with the changeup is a great starter kit. Elevating the fastball worked very well for Cole once he started doing it
  13. My bad. I got mixed up on your acronyms. I saw his curve look really good two years ago before injury. I'm confident that it'll develop into a useful third pitch with reps. A third pitch is the least of my concerns. And his command is something that get overshadowed by the sexy changeup. He has great command.
  14. If last night (or all his starts this season) are with an "off changeup", I'd love to see what he could do when it was on. I think he's in A Ball because of the impending innings limit and the depth of prospects residing in the Padres system. They'll push him up when the other moving parts in the Padres pitching farm, who are capable of throwing more innings, allow it. He's pretty much dominated every outing, so the insinuation that the changeup isn't ready or that he's still a work in progress in the California League seems like convenient rationalization. He's obviously doing something to fo
  15. Run came in on a steal of home. He K'd the guy at the plate to end the inning.
  16. Dominant again. I think he's more than just a good changeup.
  17. I'd be surprised if he pitches again in A+.
  18. He's a bad bad man. I'll say it once again. He'll be a household name very soon. Health is the only concern. I haven't seen results like this even from Strasburg. And he was older. Best pitcher in the Padres system IMO.
  19. .414 3 HRs vs. Lefties .277 9 HRs vs. Righties
  20. One of my favorite under the radar pitchers. Finally made it back to the mound after a year+ recovery from TJ surgery. Went straight to Cal League and looked good through 6 with no runs, 3 hits and 7 Ks. Had crazy numbers in A ball before getting injured. Will be a household name soon.
  21. Baez for me. Higher ceiling, lower floor, but early indications are that he's putting it together.
