Okay Yahoo let us see yet another "split personality" here, haha:

Yahoo has really got to address this in the off season.  It is getting totally ridiculous they are so far behind the times which are going to see more multi-positional players including pitchers that also hit and play in the field and positional players itching out of the bullpen more and more and just not as blow-out fill-ins.

It's not just Yahoo having issues with this. Lorenzen played OF last night and ESPN still hasn't credited his pitching stats from last night.

Any reason why his R/RBIs aren't better?  He is getting on base a ton in the heart of a strong lineup but is really just a 1 category contributor as the steals seem to have disappeared.  Still contributing decently but not doing as much as expected given he has been healthy and is strong start.

He is on pace to exceed all of his R/HR/RBI pre-season expectations by all the major projection systems.  Maybe you are just expecting too much.

Tatis is so amazing just scores on a pop up yes a normal pop up to 2nd base

this is the first time I recommend watching a highlight of a pop up on the IF

Gotta love dynamic players willing to take a risk to punish lollygagging, makes the game much more exciting. It's just too bad Brault gets charged for his 2B being inattentive.

How's everyone feeling about him nowadays? I'm kibda disappointed he doesnt steal bases anymore

I’m not too concerned, his 162 avg is currently 105 R, 24 HR, 77 RBI, 20 SB. Not going to overreact to what might just be a little slump.

  5. Just saw this in an SI article. This just can't be reality.

Only 25 players who have been retired for at least five years posted an OPS+ of 145 or better at ages 24 and 25. Twenty of them are Hall of Famers. The other five are borderline Hall of Famers: Fred McGriff, Will Clark, Don Mattingly, Dick Allen and Charlie Keller.

Jose's OPS+ the last 2 seasons were 145 and 150. As an owner in Dynasty and one redraft, this just makes me profoundly sad and confused.

Streamed Wong today. Dude both ABs had man on third and less than 2 outs. Ks both times.

Swung at 4 pitches out of the zone second AB.

    AAAA player.

BvP history isn’t always the most important part of picking streamers but 0-17 is usually a bad sign.

He’s got my attention, if he’s on anyone’s waivers I’d consider getting him, see what happens.

He seems to have gotten his timing in sync but I'm not sure he'll ever get his power back. I feel like I am watching the decline of Todd Helton all over again. It's depressing.

Iglesias in for ONLY the 9th again and once again looking great. I hope the Reds have figured this out. Struck out the side in order.

He’s K’ed 9 out of 9 batters he faced the last three nights. One away from joining Gagne and Seaver. Maybe he just really likes San Diego.

Dude could be a top 10 starter in the league (and was their #1 prospect for several years too) and he’s going to the pen lmfao He looked absolutely ridiculous last night. Why not send Maeda to the pen, who will end up there anyways?

Do you think the Dodgers would prefer him to start games in the regular season or postseason? They are going to make it to the playoffs. No reason to waste bullets.

His entire minor league and professional track record shows a lack of power. He is a very good contact hitter who will hit for average. Very helpful in real life, but in Roto Fantasy Baseball? Mediocre.

Just hit his 4th oppo shot in 5 games but yeah, he’s got no power...

  11. I’m not a big believer in first/second half players but if you look back at 2016 and 2017 he had massively better second halves. 2018 might have been Dozier’s cliff or just injury but I’m not sure since I have never owned him I’ve never payed enough attention to know his injury history.

    Low power

    Doesn't run

    Shoulder surgery

    Bad lineup

    Playing time issues

What is this guy's upside besides on base percentage?

Do you know what “upside” means? It is the opposite of pessimistic opinions.

I will give you he doesn’t run.

So no power, no steals but great avg and obp? All I hear people touting is his on base skills. Just trying to figure out if he's a one category guy just good for obp leagues?

In standard +BA, -SB, Average HR and +R/RBI due to being in a small park and theoretically good lineup.

The tricky part is not knowing how the R/RBI is split because it is all dependent on how he is utilized in the batting order.

  14. With Jay you just ride the streak and as soon as he has a three strikeout game drop him and don’t look back. I love the guy but you can get those season totals elsewhere. However, if you can strike while the iron’s hot and drop without the foolish hope of him getting back in a groove he’ll serve you well.

President of baseball operations DICK Williams says he won’t be coming up.  Going to continue to develop in the OF where they have 19 major league ready options already.  Cool.

Riiiight... The best part of this is going to be after they call Senzel up with Scooter still out another month and put him in a 5 player OF rotation and then decide that they'd rather have Schebler/Kemp than Iglesias in the lineup and play him at 2B.

  16. 9 hours ago, avatoot said:

I saw that you posted this in the Scooter Gennett Thread earlier, "When Senzel went to AAA last year he was started primarily at 2B. Zero errors in 137 chances". I thought that was great info! Gives me hope that Senzel could be thrown right into 2B to start the season. Do you think that is actually an option or more rooting for it to happen?

It was obviously the intention to start preparing Senzel to be the primary heir to 2B in 2019 in case they traded Scoot at the deadline. Their is no reason he couldn't handle the situation, any speedy third baseman can handle 2B. Sure there is some hand skills that could be refined but the difference in his bat vs Iglesias makes it a no brainer.

Ultimately I am more rooting for it than expecting it, but for me this becomes a serious PR situation for the Reds front office. Yesterday (before the Scooter injury) Senzel's agent attacked the Reds decision to demote him.

While it seems clear to me that the Reds are manipulating service time, it also seems like a semi reasonable excuse with Puig/Winker/Kemp/Schebler that the Reds could afford to send Senzel down and still maintain they are actually trying to make the playoffs this season. With Scooter gone that excuse completely flies out the window and as a (fanatic) fan I am going to be supremely pissed if Castellini doesn't do the right thing here. I usually drive a couple hours to catch 5 or 6 games a year but if this BS continues I might just go to one game when the Angels are in town so I can see Mike Trout.

Wow would they hold Senzel now? Senzel doesn’t play second base??

When Senzel went to AAA last year he was started primarily at 2B. Zero errors in 137 chances, he could easily handle it. Seems the obvious move.
