  1. Springer, injured or not, is more valuable than Bohm. Springer and Randy.
  2. I didn't believe it either, but I think that this is not a new injury, just a new diagnosis. There's been reports of abdominal pain throughout camp.
  3. twitter and reddit.com/r/fantasybaseball are both quicker on breaking news than rotoworld. Excuse me, NBC EDGE.
  4. i have a murder's row of firefox tabs related to google search results for my players / players of interest. especially closer candidates. like to read baseball america and do my own fangraphs diving. Love all the information.
  5. If we're being real, steals don't count for 20% of mondesi's value. He's being drafted almost entirely for that reason, and the roster construction around him is probably reliant on him bagging a bunch.
  6. Pitcher defense is not worth 1-2 WAR lol
  7. I hope this one isn't true, because it would mean that the baseball season is only 80-100 games or something. No chance Ohtani wins MVP with only 5 combined WAR.
  8. only barely more relevant than the garlick thread but at least mateo is fast. You're right that PT is an obvious issue here -- padres already struggling to juggle ABs between kim, cronenworth, profar. Sure there will be injuries, but this is a pure watch list play even in deep leagues imo at this point.
  9. Early contender for most irrelevant player/thread of the year. (it's ok if you meme me for creating the flexen thread)
  10. "Being first to rush and pick up someone in a free for all league based on news isn't a fantasy skill." 💯 I will also add -- chucking garbage pitchers at the wall and streaming with reckless abandon isn't a fantasy skill either. Not as much a problem in categories leagues as points leagues, or in deeper leagues v. shallow leagues, but that's a fatal flaw in some leagues imo and every league needs to have transaction limits or innings limits. Imagine a 10 team points league with no transcation caps, you could draft zero pitchers and stream 6 or 7 every day and do better than a guy who
  11. I’ve made a lineup change in the middle of trial.
  12. Chad pinder is a guy I always think is close to putting it all together, too.
  13. Feel like a bit of a hipster, I’ve liked cron since the angels. Solid hitter + power. My only reservation is the knee surgery. Daniel Murphy went from Star to washed after his knee surgery. But cron is a little younger + at least has been showing he’s got the power in spring training.
  14. I like looking at these high stakes leagues and expert leagues and seeing there’s still idiots.
  15. these are stupidly small spring training sample sizes. joe jimenez 3.1 ip, 8.10 era, 2.10 whip, 4/2 k/bb bryan garcia 3 ip, 9.00 era, 2.33 whip, 1/1 k/bb gregory soto, 4.2 ip, 1.93 era, 1.07 whip, 6/3 k/bb I think soto is favorite here because he's got better strikeout stuff than garcia and hasn't struggled like jimenez
  16. Woodward not ready to name closer and has named Leclerc, Matt Bush and Ian Kennedy as candidates to close out games. Woodward -- "Instead of just saying, ‘Hey you're going to pitch the ninth or the eighth or the seventh,’ let's try to be strategic about this. The closer may pitch the eighth inning because that's the most difficult inning.” https://www.mlb.com/news/rangers-have-not-made-decision-on-closer Ugly bullpen.
  17. 81 career wrc+, this is the biggest disparity between real life skill and fantasy value (5x5). I think there is a non zero risk that he hits so poorly that he loses playing time, especially with a deadened ball turning some wall scrapers into outs. If he gets full ABs though, he can still steal 60 despite a bad triple slash. I will pass.
  18. Soto in Detroit bc 4 lefties and 4 rhp and he’s nastiest guy. Valdez in Baltimore. think Scott is the better pitcher but think they go with valdez because he ended 2020 as closer and was good + arb price manipulation of Scott. Castillo and Fairbanks and Anderson are a quarter each with the remaining quarter up to the rest of the pen. I actually think that ottavino might get the gig in Boston based off the gushing from Cora all spring training.
  19. these threads aren't healthy to read lol I'll go out on a limb, Robbie Ray, Matt Boyd, and Mike Minor all spectacularly bounce back and each of them has their best year of their career.
  20. Gonna disagree, think his ceiling is more like Prince Fielder prime, which is .288 / .395. / 618 / 1.013 with 50 bombs.
  21. Mata was a guy I liked, but the UCL tear really has me more tepid now.
  22. What are you reading suggesting hunter wood is next in line? Sources please!
