Starting him every game. If you assume at the end of the year he's going to give us an ERA of 3.50 or better. You need every start to get that. If you sit him and he has an excellent game, and you start every game after, your final ERA from him will be higher.

It could also go the other way where you sit him and he blows up, but I'd rather eat a blow up than miss on a good start, especially if you think the final line at the end of the season is going to be solid. If that makes sense.

I mean I’m playing in a weekly points league so that doesn’t really apply. Anyways though, I disagree. If he’s been repeatedly “blowing up” in his past few outings with no reason to think things will turn around, I don’t want to just throw him out there and eat the blowups. At this point 4 out of his past 5 starts haven’t been good. Might as well wait till he shows some indication that he’s flipped the switch and then run him back out there.

Right now they’re committed to him as basically the every-day 3Bman.  That could change, but it would likely require an extended bout of futility at the plate.

There committed to him as the everyday 3B because they have space on their 25-man roster. When everybody comes back, they are going to have to send people down. My question is what are they going to do then.

  3. Is there any chance Urshela sticks on this team by the end of the season, as he has no minor league options remaining. Right now, Boone is carrying 3 bench spots, and one of those obviously belongs to Romine. Another spot will be given to a backup outfielder (Clint or Gardy). When Didi is healthy, Torres will play 2B and DJLM will be the utility man/3rd bench spot. Of course, people could get hurt and this won’t be a problem. However, if everyone is healthy where does that leave Urshela?

    How about beyond next week?

    If I’m not mistaken, vs Lad (5/17), @CHC (5/24)—> If he gets pushed up it would be. , vs Pit (5/29), @Stl (6/5), @Cle (6/11), Vs Hou (6/17), @Mil (6/22).

I was pretty excited about his newfound curveball, but Lad, CHC, Stl, Hou and Mil In 5 out of his next 7 starts doesn’t particularly help out. I might cut bait solely based on his upcoming schedule.
