Eh, there are plenty of players with sexy looking swings that don't produce value in fantasy leagues.  I think the disconnect here might be that some are buying into the "changed swing / changed results" narrative and some aren't.  I'm often skeptical of these narrative-based rationales for touting a player, because I feel like we never hear about all the times a player changes things and they don't work -- just the ones that do work.  But maybe there's something to this, and if the cost is the worst player on your roster right now, well, there aren't many leagues where that's not worth a shot for at least one team.

Happ and Kiermeir come to mind so far this season as swing/approach changes that didn't produce results in small sample sizes

San Diego seems to have excellent MiLB instructors.  It seems all their young callups have been a "hit" this year.  I really underestimated this team.  Lucchesi might be a hold IMO unless you have a clear need elsewhere (particularly Roto).  He is still getting better.

Yeah they are really hitting a stride, pieces like Luchessi/Ross/Pirela/Villanueva looking like they could be solid contributors. Gotta give them props, I'm a giants fan and our FO/scouting/development is a travesty in comparison. SD is such a more exciting, talented team

Eh. Not terrible. Not inspiring IMO.  It was the Tigers. Gave up 2 HR and came real close to giving up at least 2 more ER’s.

Yeah looks like he got some luck, 9 hits, 2 solo shots lol, but no walks is something I guess. I'll take it

  4. The reds will need to go at least 4-6 to avoid the worst 25 game start in the history of the franchise.

Senzel hasn't gotten off to a great AAA start, he did hit his first homerun yesterday but is striking out a lot. He has the polish. I just feel like we are going to see him soon as a much needed morale boost for the sad state of this franchise right now. FO and mgmt is going to be wiped clean.

I doubt it unless Holland suddenly starts getting paid much less. Agree with it or not, that gives him a lot of leeway.

Idk man, if I had Holland I won't just suddenly feel better if he blows it next time out because of his paycheck. If Norris settles in the Cardinals aren't going to have major objections to possibly using Holland in flexible high leverage situations like Miller, Hader and Bradley. Norris got 20 saves last season, he struck out the side last night and recovered under pressure with 2 K's tonight. It's possible he stays there, Norris is worth holding for that even if he ends up being a placeholder.

I'm not as stat based on some of you guys, but looks like his minors numbers were pretty darn good, had a good spring even though he didn't pitch much. No AAA #s from what I can see, but if he does well in the bigs I guess that's just as telling.

Regardless of how he is end of season, his wonky deliver/deceptiveness will take the league a little longer to adjust to. I'm riding the wave for now. His command and curve look good, not sure if he has a 3rd pitch

He's gone in most the leagues I'm in.  On WW in 1 league and I have a claim put in.  He won't make it to FA.  Unfortunately I started him for his 2 start week but then dropped him.  Now I want him back.  Used my WW claims in a couple leagues already. Used #1 claim to get him today.  Hopefully he continues.   These are deep leagues I play in.

I went with Luch but sasn't sure to pickup him Ross or because they both facing anemic SF offense (And I'm a giants fan).

Luchessi has a chance to be more than a flash in the pan, I analyzed his stuff bottom of page 3

  8. As an example of what you and I are saying, last few articles on reds reporter

    Reds lose.

    Did the reds lose? Yes.

Reds make roster move, but no it doesn't involve Nick Senzel

    The reds lose, again.

When will the reds organization hold anyone accountable?

Reds fans, don't give up just yet.

Is it time for mgmt to dismiss Bryan Price

Reds try baseball, lose baseball 6-5 to Phillies

This is possibly the worst way for the Reds season to have started

People are not happy. Mgmt and FO heads are getting chopped soon, the fanbase has nothing right now. Holding Senzel down for a fuggin arbitration year would be ludicrous when we already passed the super 2. If they hold him down they believe he's not ready.

Is the plan to wait until Joey Votto gets another year older? lol.

Thanks! What do you dislike about the first one? Just don't think Benintendi is enough to make up the gap between Martinez and Machado? Any concern about age?

Not enough to overrule how much value you are getting. Yeah Machado is young and thats the best piece but Benintendi is also. It's slightly win now but you win the trade enough in both

  10. I think offer 2 is pretty sweet and offer 3 is also good, I'd take either. Benintendi's OBP is really miles better than Piscotty, even if he K's a lot vs lefties. Buxton even if he is a bench bat for you, at his floor, if he stays terrible, should be a 12-35 guy. I don't think he will be this bad forever. Take either deal for sure. Brinson is droppable until he has a pulse, his k rate is really bad.

  11. As the outrage grows and we see more articles/radio commentary like this mgmt will have their hand forced. Heads are going to be rolling.

"Here are the stats: Since Eugenio Suarez has been out, Reds third basemen were 1 for 25 with three errors entering Sunday.

Meanwhile, the team’s No. 1 prospect, Nick Senzel, a third baseman by trade, remains at Triple-A. Senzel started off well for the Louisville Bats. He had two hits in each of the first two games. He struggled a bit for the next four games, but he had five hits in his last three games entering Sunday.

The date has passed by which the Reds can call up Senzel and retain control of Senzel for another year.

If the Reds were 11-2, there would be no reason to be talking about Senzel. But the Reds entered Sunday 2-11 and last in the National League in runs scored.

It sounds like if it were manager Bryan Price’s call, Senzel would be with the Reds.

“We’re an organization,” Price said. “We’re not one person. This is not a situation where one person gets to say: This is what happens. This is a decision that’s made by a lot of people for a lot of varying reasons. That’s where I stand on it. I think he could help us. There’s also the argument that the people who see him and know him better than I do need to feel like he’s ready. When that time comes, I would think we’ll see him here. Especially with Geno out.”

The Reds stink and will all year, it really doesn't help them all that much to call up Senzel, might as well wait until July and get that arbitration year, this team is going nowhere.

If you want your fanbase to revolt with nothing to watch or have hope for, sure. Cries for firing all the mgmt are already loud. There is something to be said for just putting a team with some dignity out there. They won’t wait until July

  13. Gave: Gioloto

    Got: Gausman

I know Gausman is a gas can but Gioloto has seriously looked like a bad A ball pitcher. Maybe he gets better as it warms up but I am definitely not betting on what I have seen. Those 2 QS were bogus, wanted to sneak how bad he has been by someone who hasn't actually watched him pitch and just associates his name with prospect hype
