  1. A few questions from PMers answered - hitting/pitching split in the auction is usually 65/35, maybe 70/30. Pitching categories are pretty typical roto 5x5x (W, ERA, WHIP, K, S) but with the recent changes in pitching such as openers and the continuing unpredictability of saves, less money seems to be going to pitching in the auction. Also, yes, all your keepers can be minor leaguers (who don't count against the $260 Auction Day cap), although this team only has four minor leaguers, so if you don't want to start fresh, you'd need to keep one major leaguer as well for the minimum five.
  2. Not free, but meets your other stipulations I believe - see here:
  3. 5x5 Auction Keeper AL-only league entering its 12th season looking for an owner. 10 teams. 23-man active roster (2C, 1, 2, 3, S, CI, MI, 5OF, UT, 9P) acquired during an Auction, followed by a 17-round straight draft (in reverse order of last year's finish) for non-auction-acquired players and AL minor leaguers, both using the CBS software, so no physical presence necessary and you can be anywhere (our owners come from California, the Minneapolis area, Baltimore and NYC). The 17 reserve players plus the 23 actives make a 40-man roster, so despite just 10 teams the league is not a superstar l

  5. That would be fraud or fraud in the inducement and would be a separate cause of action from a "garden variety" breach of contract claim. So punitives would be available. And you might well be right - I haven't studied the situation closely enough to foreclose the possibility that there's tortious conduct here. But if it's only breach, there are unlikely to be punitives available.
  6. Thanks to several of you who have showed interest - sending out responses to your PMs now. For anyone else, please let me know of any interest. Thanks.
  7. Without any accompanying fraud or other tort? There are, sure. I'd say it's probably at a rate of about 1 in 1,000 cases. Maybe even more rare.
  8. I don't know. I think Silver has been good for the sport on the whole, but you're right - this situation is pretty strange and the league isn't coming off well.
  9. Yeah, punitive damages aren't happening here. This is a breach of contract situation, which doesn't support punitives. Maybe the A's can tack on some sort of claims (fraud, interference with contractual relations, etc.) that would trigger punitives, but that isn't usually successful when everyone on the other side knows that you only added those claims to do so. I agree that Boras will not sue a client.
  10. Davante definitely doesn't get the appreciation he deserves. Particularly since, with Nelson leaving and Cobb and Graham kinda useless, it's not much of a mystery who Rodgers is targeting. I think JJSS will be fine either with Brown or without.
  11. They didn't. I mean, their defense wasn't great (as usual I guess) and they failed to stomp on the Rams with that early lead, but that game outcome wasn't a choke by anyone except the two zebras who didn't call something, anything on that play. Mind-boggling. I think the Saints will be right back in it next year. They might try mining the lower levels of the draft and street free agents for some defensive gems.
  12. I'm personally sick of "running backs room," etc. I visualize Gordon, Ekeler, and Justin Jackson sitting in a hotel conference room discussing plays with the RB coach while sipping water and doodling on notepads. It's dumb. "WR corps" or "WRs" or "quarterback group" works just fine. This one needs to die down fast. From the OP, "eat" and "fed" are absolutely terrible.
  13. I heard a lot about Suh taking attention away from Donald but in the 5-6 Rams games I watched this season, I just didn't see that. Suh looked slow to me and was probably more help against the run (?). I think Donald is just a transformative talent. Given that Brady has not really been touched in the postseason this has to be the key matchup to watch on Sunday.
