  1. Pujols released. Interesting...
  2. According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, the Mets have instructed OF prospect Khalil Lee to be ready for a potential callup. Lee could be poised to make his major league debut this weekend against the Diamondbacks after the Mets had to place Brandon Nimmo (finger) on the injured list Wednesday. Lee, 22, was acquired from the Royals in February as part of the three-team Andrew Benintendi trade. He slashed .264/.363/.372 with eight home runs and a whopping 53 stolen bases over 129 minor league games in 2019. SOURCE: Anthony DiComo on Twitter

  4. Any likelihood of a call-up with the Alex Kirilloff injury?
  5. THU, APR 29, 2:35 PMROTOWIRE.COM Lacy will begin the 2021 season at High-A Quad Cities, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Spin: The canceled minor-league seasons last year prevented Lacy from making his professional debut after being selected fourth-overall in the 2020 draft. The Royals clearly see him as a fairly advanced pitcher, as the 21-year-old will begin his pro career just three steps away from the big leagues. He could push for a major-league debut sometime next season if he looks good in the minors.
  6. THU, APR 29, 2:29 PMROTOWIRE.COM Lynch will begin the season at Triple-A Omaha, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Spin: Lynch hasn't previously pitched above the High-A level, though he likely would have been on track to open this year in Triple-A if not for last year's canceled minor-league season. The Royals were evidently impressed enough with his work at the alternate site that they'll promote him there anyway without any Double-A action. In 15 starts for High-A Wilmington in 2019, he recorded a 3.10 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.
  7. Patino walks the 1st batter and then strike out swinging (Bichette), strike out swinging (Vlad), strike out looking (Grichuk).
  8. From ESPN: ROTOWIRE.COM Verdugo was dealing with left hamstring cramps during Saturday's loss to the Mariners, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports. Spin: Verdugo went 2-for-4 with a double and one run in Saturday's loss, but he appeared to be bothered by his hamstring throughout most of the game. He was able to remain in the contest, and manager Alex Cora didn't sound concerned about the issue after the game. However, it's not yet clear whether the issue will impact Verdugo's availability for Sunday's series finale against Seattle.
  9. Luis Patino will make his Rays debut in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. Patino has been added to the team's taxi squad and will reportedly be activated to make his Rays debut in tandem with scheduled starter Josh Fleming during the team's series finale against the Blue Jays on Sunday. The hard-throwing 21-year-old righty made 11 appearances (one start) with the Padres last season. Given his tremendous strikeout upside, he's worth a speculative roster spot for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues. SOURCE: Marc Topkin on Twitter

  11. Jacob deGrom tossed his second career shutout while striking out a career-high 15 batters in a 6-0 victory over the Nationals on Friday. Oh, and if that wasn't good enough, he also went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored. What else can you really say at this point? DeGrom retired the final 19 batters he faced after a two-out double from Andrew Stevenson in the third inning and didn't walk a batter on the evening. He also made history, becoming the first ever pitcher to strike out 50 batters over his first four starts in a season. He's just the third pitcher ever to strike
  12. AVISAIL GARCIAOF, MILWAUKEE BREWERS Brewers manager Craig Counsell said after Friday's game that Avisail Garcia (back) could return to the Brewers lineup on Saturday. Garcia was pulled from Friday's game against the Cubs -- partially because the score was so lopsided early on -- but also due to some minor tightness in his back. It doesn't sound like it's the type of thing that should force him to the injured list and Garcia should return to the lineup at some point over the weekend.
  13. Since no one has mentioned him (surprisingly), I'll throw the name Adolis Garcia out there.
  14. ALEX BREGMAN 3B, HOUSTON ASTROS Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports that Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Martín Maldonado and Robel García are expected to rejoin the Astros on Tuesday in Colorado.
  15. Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters on Friday that the five players out due to health and safety protocols are likely to be sidelined until Tuesday. "It's leaning that way", Baker said when asked whether those players would miss the team's entire five-game road trip. Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, Martin Maldonado and Robel Garcia are currently on the COVID-19 injured list due to health and safety protocols. Fantasy managers who have viable alternatives available would be wise to get those Astros out of lineups for the weekend. SOURCE
  16. I don't hold anything done in 2020 against any player. Last year was a weird, weird once-or-twice in a generation experience.
  17. If you don't feel confident enough to start him vs. the struggling Yankees...or the Rays...or the Royals or White Sox, I'm assuming teams like the Astros and Angels are out...the Red Sox have been crushing the ball lately...I'm assuming the Twins are a "no", as well. So it's safe to roll him out for maybe 5 AL teams. Why even roster him? I say take a chance. YOLO
  18. Batting 5th and playing RF today... 😁
