Things that would make fantasy basketball better

Picking a team defense could be fun, like in football (hold opponent under 80 points, 90 points, etc, etc, team blocks, team steals)

that's a really good idea. Boston Celtics would be the Pitts D of basketball. Would make a whole new strat when drafting.

Hockey assists are good. Every time an assist is about to happen, but then the shooter gets fouled and misses, it should merit a half assist.

Deflections could be half steals.

but what if you got Garnett and he blocks a shot and gets a steal, etc... but your opponent has the celtics D?

Deflections are currently full steals... Why change it?

Contribute ideas that would fantasy bball better:

Here is mine:

End of quarter shots (heaves) should never negatively contribute toward one's FG %.

If it counts if he hits it, it better count when he misses.

agree.

this reminds me of a half-baked football idea i have, goes something like if your guy scores a TD that puts his team ahead or pulls them into a tie, it should count for more than a regular TD ... and if a guy gets a first down run or catch, it should be an added point ... and stats accumulated when a team is down by something like four scores or more with 5 minutes left, those stats should count for 35% as much as normal ... if a Def stops a team from getting a tD when its first and goal, should be a point.

That's the whole point. Some players in the NBA avoid shooting this prayer of a shot to not hurt their own FG pct when in reality that is to the detriment of their team. If the last second heaves were only positively reflected in one's FG pct, all players would try them instead of holding back and missing out on the potential lucky shot (which they should be taking if they only cared about winning).

Why not just count it as a steal instead?

Because seeing one of your players turnover the ball is probably the worst single thing to witness. And with a -1 TO, it would alleviate all that stress B)

Someone mentioned above posterization. Having a category that includes Dunks would be nice... although, that "dunk" Griffin had over Timofey Mosgov, wasnt really a drunk, was it?

Yea, it wasn't a dunk, it was mutilation of Mozgov's manhood.
