Ben Simmons 2016-2017 season outlook

Recommended Posts

I drafted him before the season as a stash player but  I decided to trade him as a "win now approach." I think he is going to be a baller in the league. If he works on his jumper, his potential can be limitless. I'm anticipating Rondo like performances with more potential in blocks.

"There is very little available information and absolutely no guarantees regarding the No. 1 pick’s potential return date and it would be nice to receive something—anything—before considering a stash for the stake of stashing."

read something interesting today though

Question 3: When is the best time to stash Ben Simmons?

Obviously much of this depends on whether or not you have an IR spot in your league. First of all—it’s something that is strongly recommended. It allows for another layer of strategy to unfold and is a solid strategy to help prevent artificial inflation on the waiver wire. Secondly, Simmons isn’t currently worth a stash in any format unless you can designate him accordingly.

Given how the Sixers treat their injured players and the importance of Simmons to the future of this franchise, it’s awfully hard to believe he’s capable of making a legitimate fantasy impact in 2017.

If you want Simmons, get Simmons. I decided to wait it out and he got snagged about a week ago. I was furious and now have to resort to formulating a trade in which that GM throws him in as a sweetener.

How long do you guys think he will be on a minutes restriction when he returns? Weeks? A month? I know his foot injury wasn't as serious as KD's, but these are the Sixers we're talking about.. If he really is due back in January, I'm sure they're going to want to see him play with their other prized bigs to see how he meshes with each player before the trade deadline in February.

Does this change anyone's timetable? Great to see a nice update.

Ben Simmons (foot surgery) shot around without a walking boot after Tuesday's practice.

"[Simmons] walked out on the court in sneakers and shot free throws. That is significant to me," said coach Brett Brown. He also said the team will be "extremly careful" with Simmons, however, and there's still no firm timetable for his return -- the rough target is some time in January. When he does return, the Sixers have made it clear that they plan to use him primarily as a point guard.

Lol. Once I saw over a 1000 adds on Yahoo a couple days ago, I snagged him. He's been stashed B)

My guess is that if there are no other news of him preparing to come back during january (within the next week or two, since it'll already be jan in 2 weeks) then my guess is that they may shut him down for the year.

Perhaps pick him up sometime next week is my best bet.

he might get picked up before next week. they way philly is talking, its like they want him to be the next lbj in a year.

They seemed pretty optimistic about Simmons' return on the broadcast tonight. Had a little 5 minute feature story on him during halftime, showing him walking around the stadium, getting up shots, practice footage, etc.

I think being optimistic should be a given. This team has been losing for the past several years and it finally looks like there's hope for this team this season. They need to hype up Simmons, sell more tickets, and bring in more fans. But, as we all know, optimism doesn't always translate well in fantasy. Just gotta hope he comes back quick

keep these updates coming rotoworldnation. this is great to see but right now he's still in a walking boot. I feel like this is tantamount to having rare video footage of BIGFOOT. Until he actually plays in the NBA regular season game and plays minutes I gotta still be skeptical. I don't buy a word that damn coach says. He's so untrustworthy. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

what's the percentage chance this is all a PR hoax by philly nation and he actually plays 0 games this season? 30%? 50%?

yeah i dont think he's going to deliver THAT much value fantasy-wise this year, not sure why some folks are stashing since beginning of season

Have him on the IR/IL list. Doesn't hurt me putting him in there. Can't miss a chance on an assist specialist at the SF position. My main guards have low assists aves but I did catch a break with Spanish Choco tho.

Also, the rebounds and stocks because he will play point guard and he averaged 2 steals and 0.8 blocks during one year college play. Thinking he will play against way smaller point guard, more blocks will come.

Bad fundamentals. Always bend your knees when you shoot, even if you're not jumping.

Hope that foot heals up tho. Can't wait to see this guy in action.
