Dewayne Dedmon 2016-2017 Season Outlook

Recommended Posts

Christ his per 36 the last 3 seasons is insane....!

I think with Aldridge and Gasol being as bad as they are defensively, Pops will stagger them at PF with Dedmon at C. If he gets 20-24 range the boards / blocks / FG is all very helpful for any deep league teams (and maybe even some 12 teamers in some scenarios).

I'm all aboard the train.

He's on my team for the rebounds and blocks. As long as he does those two things, I don't care what else happens.

The 5/6 FT is also very nice today.. he's basically giving you FG%, FT%, boards/blocks, low TO, that's a very good big to round out your roster with (particularly in deep leagues).

Lamarcus already getting rest and pop showing he doesn't seem to want to play him together with Pau much...  Looks like a pretty good situation for dedmon. Great early season ww pickup for a blocks specialist that doesn't hurt you anywhere. Put up 6th round value this week. Don't see how you can drop that.

Dewayne is rumoured to be the starter for the Spurs at center, as they're looking to bring Pau Gasol off the bench.

Last season he played ten games in which he got 20+ minutes of playing time. In these ten games, he averaged 8.7 pts on 59% FG, 1.4 blk, 3.4 fouls and 6.5 rebounds in just over 24 minutes a game. As a starting Center he averaged  7.2 pts on 56% FG, 5.9 reb, 1 blk, 0.6 steals. He'ss also a decent (~75-78%) FT shooter.

Not a world beater, but I think he's a decent option to keep an eye out on, if you need a big at the end of your bench. I'm expecting:

7.5 pts on 57% FG. Approx 7 rebounds, 1.3 blk and good ft shooting in the range of 75%. Low TO's as well. Chip in 0.6+ steals and you have a very decent option right off waivers. Those stats (or better) were only put up by a very select group of players in 2015-2016.

So far 5.6 pts, 6.4 reb, 1.7 blk, 48%fg, 75%ft and 0.4 TO. Plus 0.4 steals. Will probably end the season with better averages than my prediction.

Yes. I would.

I nearly did, but I changed my mind. Basically, Dedmon was playing because Pau was resting. I expect Pau and Lamarcus to play tonight so he might even get a DNP...

Dedmon almost always plays 12-20 minutes. Don't know why he would get a DNP, since he got those when injured and one game where Pop was playing Pop games. And that's all Dedmon needs, 12-20 minutes, to be productive. He could stand to play a bit more, but he'd need to learn how to get his fouls under control a bit better before he sees 20+ mins a night.

Fair enough, I guess you followed his situation more closely than I did!

Not saying he won't get 'punished' by Pop again, like he did a few weeks ago, when Dedmon played only a few minutes. But most Spurs fans are begging for Pop to play Dedmon more. Basically he's their most capable defender and athletic big man (that last one doesnt matter to Pop, obviously), and the Spurs would probably be smart to stagger Gasol and Aldridge a bit more than they are currently.

Also woulnd't mind to see extended minutes of Bertans and Dedmon together. Way too inexperienced, but should be fun nevertheless. Maybe during one of those many Homecourt losses.
