How long has it been since he "played" 2B?  Have the Cubs stopped shifting like they did early in the season?

They probably finally realized that holding up the game for it was ridiculous.  He fielded the ball only 2 of the 9 times they did this.  Or Maddon could just be trolling fantasy owners lol.

It's been roughly a month. There's been a couple of close calls where it almost happened. Sometimes there's runners on first and second making it not needed to hold the runner on first as close.  Sometimes the shift isn't as defined. There was even a bunt last night by Wacha, but there was no shift on then. Possibly because Wacha hit the first pitch without showing bunt first.

Knowing Maddon, I doubt he just gives it up completely and Rizzo went for a large gap earlier in the season between appearances 3 and 4. So it'll probably happen eventually. But now that we're 2/3 through the season the impact is certainly lessened

Any chance he misses time this week after sitting out on Sunday (back).

Per Maddon, ‘‘Hopefully [he returns] by Tuesday and, if not, more than likely by Wednesday. No reason to push it.’’

Doesn't sound terribly serious.  Maybe he needs 2-3 days of rest to get right.

Rizzo (back) is starting Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, playing first base and batting third.

Rizzo was forced to sit out of Sunday's series finale with the Brewers, but Monday's off-day seems to have been just what he needed to get back into action. He'll resume his role in the Cubs' lineup as a main run producer for the north siders.

I thought position eligibility automatically transfers over to the next year. Rizzo should have 2b eligibility in yahoo for 2018?

If that's wrong, can you explain?

It depends on your league/provider settings.  On CBS it's 5 appearances to gain eligibility during the season (I think for most providers it's 10).

However to carry over the eligibility into the following season it is 20 appearances, so he'd need 10 more appearances at 2B this season to carry 2B into 2018.
