Just wish they could get him to trust his stuff and stop all the nibbling. Probably a pipe-dream. Guys come from Japan and are just so used to throwing tons of pitches. If he could be efficient he'd be an easy top 5 pitcher in baseball. The rangers are pretty bad, but I doubt they trade him, as I am sure they want to re-sign him next year and he might not like uprooting mid-year?

It was somewhat predictable. It's Darvish vs. Tanaka. That's big sports news over in Japan. There's no way that either of these guys was going to give anything less than 100.00%. And sure enough, both have a 2-hit shutout going through 7.

I wonder how much of this is actually true.  Are you saying that if Severino was on the mound he would have pitched worse?

Or more, that Darvish & Tanaka aren't always really trying, but THIS time they both tried real hard!

That's just not a narrative I buy at all.

It was the first time they opposed each other. Being from the same country I'm sure the juices had to be flowing like crazy .

Also both have been not pitching well of late . More so  Tabaka Players get more pumped when playing better teams .

Od course they both wanted to out do each other .

I watched and they were both on their game .

I'm one that wants to see either lots of offense or a no hitter . Pitching duels don't usually do it for me but this one had me watching every pitch . It was fun

  • 2 weeks later...

This start has gone from bad to worse with 3 run shot from Benitiendi. Darvish exits after allowing 11 hits and 7 ER in 4.1 IP.... brutal.

He didn't walk anyone, and walks are what usually gets him in trouble.

Don't understand how the bottom of the lineup destroyed Darvish while Betts, Pedroia, and Bogaerts ALL went hitless. Started both Betts and Pedroia. Left Benintendi on my bench assuming he wouldn't do much. Guess it's just one of those nights.

So you started two right handed bats and leave the lefty on the bench???
