Taj Gibson shot 1/2 3's against the Warriors. He's the starter in Minny and seems like a really good fit next to KAT.

I'm expecting him to post at least his career averages:

9.4 pts on approx 50%fg, 6.5+ rebounds, 70% ft, 1 block, 1 ast, 1 to, 0.5 stl. That's approx top 120 value. Now, if he also adds about  0.5-0.8 threes per game, it'll vault him into the top 75-80 next year. A bit comparable to the value Pau Gasol provided this past season. I think that's great value for where you might be able to get him.

Where do you rank him among guys like Favors, Kanter, or RoLo ?

Even with Kanter, but depends on what you need (volumes: Kanter, intangibles: Taj). I think Kanter, if he clearly beats out Hernangomez and Hernangomez and NNoah won't eat too much into his minutes, will rank between 80 and 100 this year - similar to his first year in OKC (15 pts, 50%fg, 9 reb in 28 min).

I rank him over Rolo, unless it's purely blk you want. His FG% is a bit better than Taj' but I can see Robin's role diminsh while Gibson looks to have a very clear path to minutes and a big role.

I rank Favors over all of them. He has top40 upside IF he can leave the injuries behind him. It's said he's feeling healthy again, and he could even see some more touches with Hayward gone and improve efficiency with Gobert, a few year further in his development, next to him now.

What are people's thoughts on Horford for the upcoming season? I'm reading a mixed bag of emotions towards him from the writers at Rotoworld (some consider him bounce back, some consider him stay away).

I feel like he'd be comfortable & productive being the 3rd option again (which he was during the JJ, Smoove, Horford period at Atlanta), but he also looks like he rapidly aged like Al Jeff.

Thoughts?

When healthy he is one of the most consistent multi-cat producers and he will retain value regardless of his role because so much of his value comes from defensive contributions and assists.  I expect more of the same: 14/7/3.5 with 1.3 threes/1.3 blocks/.9 steals on elite percentages.

Kuzma. Swanigan. Taj. These are the bigs that gained steam during the preseason. Believe that Taj is now a better value pick than picking Dieng in the range where he is ranked. Swanigan only has Vonleh, Meyers and to a lesser extent Aminu to worry about. His game is extremely fantasy friendly too. Kuzma on the other hand has just been fire since the preseason but has the most "competition" for minutes, although it can be argued that he is already a better player than those two mentioned. Who do you got?

Stanley Johnson, Paul Zipser, Justin Holiday, Doug McDermott are also interesting guys to consider in the last rounds. Even though all of them have somewhat lackluster fantasy resumes so far, you will have to consider them with the minutes they are going to get with their respective teams. Thoughts on this bunch?

I'm also interested in Stanley Johnson and Doug McDermott. SJ seems to have an open path to the starting 5 but his percentages scare me. Likewise, Doug McDermott should see more minutes in NY, but he hardly contributes in any category besides 3s (good ft% and low turnovers also don't hurt). Justin Holiday should have some fantasy value in deeper leagues whereas I don't see Zipser having much value at all.

How would you rank these players:
Stanley Johnson, Doug McDermott, Kelly Oubre, Ish Smith, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Caleb Swanigan, Kyle Korver and Wayne Selden?
These are all interesting picks and could proove themselves rosterable at least in 14 team leagues.

Selden might be cut. I have him as a sleeper, as he could also end up starting. Yet, so far he hasnt looked very good.

Korver will lose a lot of minutes and will only contribute some 3's. As usual, but less.

Bogdan looks to be out of the rotation for now. Joerger hinted he might need a while before he leanrs their plays and he's coached up.

Ish Smith is useful beause of his good efficiency. But a backup. Valuable if Reggie misses games.

McDermott might start in NYK. Never was a fan, but hey: there's a chance he does something. Tends to have good FG with nice 3's.

Oubre should start at SF if Morris misses time, but it looks like they dodged a bullet. Nice source of steals if he plays more than last year (which coach indicated would happen).

Stanley Johnson could start, or see an expanded role. Word out of camp has been positive, but hasnt looked much better so far from what I saw.

Caleb has a chance to start but will see minutes either way.

None of the options are great, but if you need AST, STL, REB, 3pt there are some specialists. Selden isn't much of a specialist though, the other ones could help out a tiny bit, if needed and in the right situation.

i don't feel like kuzma's stats are sustainable. he shoots like 60% from three and somewhere around 70% overall

Good lord that would be an insane hot streak to ride on though!

god Stanley Johnson is so infuriating. He was one of my favorite sleepers and hype picks.. is absolutely chiseled.. looks like LeBron / Artest hybrid in SL, and then Van Gundy destroyed his confidence completely by yanking him after any mistake made. I remember watching his rookie year and if he'd brick a couple of shots he would be out immediately.. then Marcus Morris shoots to the tune of 4-16 but somehow gets insane praise and their team continues losing on a nightly basis.. just frustrating. He could've played Stanley at 3 different positions to give him minutes and quicken the learning curve and instead just stuck him as a backup SG with a bunch of DNP-CDs and minutes at the end of blowouts... such a bad way to treat a guy who has the potential to be a franchise guy for them.

SVG is raving about him at camp though (him and Kennard) and I watched a lot of his off-season work this year and it's all sunshine and rainbows (but it's pretty much like that about every player in the offseason).

It really sucks that my draft is tomorrow - I would've liked to take a longer look at him for a few more preseason games..

Feeling like Aaron Gordon is sneaking below everyone's radar even though he is have a good preseason showing. Just not popular this year I guess.

Literally every fantasy expert and site is touting him as a breakout candidate this season. Nobody is sleeping on him.

I guess so... usually the threads are more excited about unproven breakout candidates like him. Feels like his breakout is believed to be guaranteed.

It's probably because people have been waiting for him to breakout for a while now. He looks good so far through the preseason, and if he continues to stuff the stat sheet you'll see much more buzz.
