I am glad the American League has the DH .....

i was hoping for this deal to be made the Marlins had to take Jacoby and his contract or some portion of

Jacoby is owed a minimum of $68M for the rest of his contract but the Yankees got back $35M from the Stanton trade. The Marlins paying off half of Ellsbury's deal with the Yankees paying full price for Stanton is another way of looking at this deal.

Huh?  The whole point of the Marlins trading away Stanton was to do a major salary dump.  Not to have a salary dump done on them and getting a crappy player back as well.

They want to get OUT of horrific contracts; not take them on.  The Marlins  didn't say "wow let us get rid of our best player for the hell of it and oh by the way take on one of the most horrible contracts in baseball at the same time."  It was all about the MAJOR monetary concerns of the new owners first, last and foremost.

Yea I know the marlins want no part of Ellsbury more like no team wants any piece of Jacoby....

but I read Today maybe it was from Buster Olney he mention in his piece before te trade actually happen. about maybe the Jacoby Ellsbury and the marlins ... Yankees paying a big piece of the salary .... so they can unload him

Excuse me

$30 mil, not $35 and no Ellsbury

Cashman you magnificent SOB.

Giancarlo Stanton, Judge, Sanchez back to back to back. I'm literally erect right now over this.

I'm thinking Gardner then Torres ahead of them.  Bird, Hicks, DiDi, Headley fill out the line up.  Maybe Hicks bats 2nd

OK, now let's not forget the rest of this lineup:

Didi hit 25

Gardner hit 21

Hicks hit 15 in only 88 games

Bird should be healthy and able to hit ~30

Frazier hit 11 in 66 games

This team is LOADED with home run guys... I'm stoked and I hate the Yanks.

Todd Frazier isn't on the team anymore

I can't imagine Frazier isn't in the deal. If they're moving Castro seems that somehow Torres isn't in the deal. Who else could they be giving?

He was talking about Todd.  he isn't on the team   FA

Nuts and bolts time.  Who plays where in the outfield now?  Stanton and Judge are corner outfielders.

So centerfield comes down to Ellsbury who sucks but who is stuck on the Yankee payroll forever.  Or Gardner who is always going to be traded and never is.  Or Hicks who has shown he should be playing.  And then there is the curious case of Clint Frazier.  Arizona-style outfield clutter.  Who stays and who goes and who plays center?

And don't tell me the Yankees will "dump" Ellsbury and his horrible contract on some other team.  There is no other team that would be that stupid.

Gardner LF   Hicks CF  Judge and Stanton share DH and RF   Frazier waits, and he and Ellsbury are injury insurance.  That will be the main line up.

easy.     Maybe Frazier in a deal for a stud SP?

Now that we still have our top prospects maybe we can use Clint Frazier as a trade piece to acquire a good arm. Marcus Stroman would look good

Frazier for Stroman?    love it

Except the Blue Jay would hear the office, laugh, and immediately hang up the phone upon hearing said offer.

Stroman has three years of arbitration left, had a phenomenal year last year and is on the precipice of being an elite starting pitcher in this league.  You think the Blue Jays would trade that for a minor league player who has proven nothing on the ML level?

I don't think so.   obviously it's Frazier plus another part (small part) and don't be surprised if the Jays are making the call

Not really.

Considering it only took Kaprielian, Mateo, and Fowler to get 2.5 years of Gray, something among the lines of Frazier, Medina, and Thairo Estrada could definitely get done for 3 years of Stroman.

I think you are getting close, nobody said they wouldn't do it, but saying Frazier for Stro is silly. And I don't think anyone should be compared to the A's when it comes to moving players.

why would the Jays entertain that?

to improve their team.   why would any team entertain an offer?   improve team or lose salary.  In this case they would try to improve team.  Jays don't have a RF.

I didn't realize Clint Frazier was so good. Lock him in to the Jays RF then I guess.

he is a top level prospect.  Hard to reply to your scenerio.  Frazier plus a mid prospect is worth Stroman.  Especially when you have a RF need.

what if it's Frazier and Sheffield? (probably too much).  More like Tate or Acevedo.  German?    It's very doable

Just be clear Rich. You said Frazier for Stro. You didn't say Frazier + for Stro. So I was replying to your comment of 1 for 1. And I could be wrong but I think the Jays are going to run with Teoscar in RF.  And I think they should try that before trading Stro for Frazier.

You're nuts. The Jays aren't moving their best pitcher for an OF with some holes in his swing, even if it includes some other prospect, to a division rival.

And for the record, it's aterrible deal for the Jays. We KNOW Stroman is going to give them ~180-200ip with a solid ERA every year. We have no idea what Clint Frazier will be. Stro is under control still.

Bad deal go away.
