A QB who can’t throw and a WR who can’t catch. Not a good fit. A perfect fit.

Amari for me is the 2017 Gurley of WRs.   - Young incredible talent, freak of nature, pedigree coming out of college - Coming off a disaster year after a promising start to NFL career

A first rounder?? A Dallas first rounder no less?? That’s going to be a top-15 pick! The Raiders just fleeced the Cowboys.

Sometimes players are who we thought they were. Cooper has played in exactly 50 NFL games (including one playoff game).

He's been held under 50 yards in 26 of 50 games...so over 50% of his career games.

In 2015, he was under 50 yards in 8 of 16 games.

In 2016, he was under 50 yards in 7 of 17 games (including the playoff game).

In 2017, he was under 50 yards in 9 of 14 games.

In 2018, he is under 50 yards in 2 of 3 games.

Setting the bar even lower, Cooper is statistically more likely to get 20 or less yards in a game (13 of 50 career games, so 26% of his games) than to get 100 yards (12 of 50 career games, so 24%).

This is every game of his career...

Dropping. At some point you just have to swallow your pride and move on. Plenty of waiver options in 10 and even 12 team leagues that are more reliable and worth rostering over Cooper. It’s a sad reality but it’s the hard truth. People who don’t own him already know this though lol.

Great stuff. Even worse is that in only 4 of the 26 games he was below 50 yards did he score a TD.

His career path is giving me flashbacks of Dwayne Bowe, flashes of greatness but largely inconsistent, I'll sell at the first sign of life, I'm not falling for this again.

Thanks and agreed; it shows that it'd be tough for anyone to argue he's still usable even when not racking up catches and yards.

Another point looking at his game log, is that *most* Amari owners have likely only had 1 or 2 games since 2017,  in which they were truly happy with his production. Game 1 in 2017 was a solid (if unspectacular) game). I'm sure just about all Amari owners would have had him active there.

And then you have to go all the way until last week, Game 2 in 2018. That comes with a caveat in itself, because many owners likely did not have him active, after his Week 1 disaster. So some of his owners benefitted, and some didn't.

What about the other games in which he did well? In the 210 yard explosion last year, I can't imagine many Amari owners had him active. Especially so in leagues with 12 teams or less. As looking at his game log, he had been absolutely brutal for 5 straight weeks. Then in Week 16, he had a good game (because of a TD). But were owners who made the Fantasy Super Bowl playing him, after a combined 1 catch for 9 yards over the prior 2 weeks? Lastly, in Week 17, he went over 100 yards and scored a TD...but who plays fantasy in Week 17 (not too many people)?

It was talked about to fade him this week due to being shadowed by an amazing CB, Xavien Howard, who hasn't allowed anything this year.  Caused Jordy to blow up.  Don't freak out.  They face Cleveland next week, not sure if it's any better, but it looks to be.

This is true. Good call.

Why would CLE be better? Their rookie CB held his own against Antonio Brown week 1.

OAK clearly isn't committed to feeding Cooper regardless of matchup. Not a good sign.

won't denzel ward lock him down?  the #1 corner will always be on him

I don’t think anyone will shadow OAK WR’s this year. Cook got fed week 1, Cooper week 2, Nelson week 3. It’s anybody’s guess what the OAK gameplan will be from week to week

Well at least I only drafted him in one league. I guess I got roped in by the coach speak and talks of him lining up more in the slot (with the idea that it would help to avoid games like this and get the ball in his hands more). He is still very much a boom bust player and similar to when Crabtree was there he doesn't get WR1-level targets consistently and he isn't big enough or have good enough hands to be a guy who can bail out fantasy owners with a RZ TD. Unfortunately, with two clunkers you probably aren't going to get anything great for him but he seems like a WR3 to me so if I can do better than that I'm dealing him while there is still some optimism since mine has run out (and this is my first year ever owning him in any league).
