The irony in the contract is many Orioles fans wanted him resigned.  They need to find a reason to DL him, or give him some time off. Give him a few weeks to change something (anything).  But what do I know?  I'm probably smarter than the Orioles management...and you are too.

I don't think people really understand how bad Chris Davis is with all these alternate "worst ever" deals being cited.   A guy like Mauer might not have lived up to the expectations of his c

I'm sorry, but a $26M deal, or whatever it was, just isn't one of the worst in history.  It just isn't.

A high value contract that pays out decent in the front half and is a disaster in the back half is kinda the norm. IMO it should be the expectation.    The ARod contract I actually think sho

interesting piece of information

Amaretto and terrible beer?  I'd rather stomach his line on a fantasy team than drink that lol.

Just saw his personal hitting coach of 11 years called him out publicly for work ethic.

He can't be sent down without his permission,  and the players union wouldn't like it if he did.  Could/ would/ should they package him and Machado for a vending machine and a few tees? Would anyone go for a free rental of Manny with that attached?

He's been so bad he's breaking the salary dump trade models

Chris Davis benched indefinitely.  Why?  Can he not be sent to the minors to work things out?

He doesn't have options left.  It's either play him, bench him or DFA him.

I honestly think they've benched him just to avoid the embarrassment of having the "worst player in history".

Fine DFA him, nobody is going to pick up his contract.

they owe him 20+ mil for 4 more years and hes OPSing 460...crazy

we say this often but this may be objectively the worst contract ever if he has the worst season ever.

he had a 920OPS year in 2015 and hes only 32.  do you guys think his big years like 2013 and 15 were PED assisted?  just dont see how a guy goes from a 1.0 OPS to a 460 in 5 years

As a Yankees Fan, I can put up some competition for bad contracts:

1. Clemens 1 yr $28Mil deal (6-6, 4.2+ ERA, only started something like 16 games)

2. Mark Texiera 8 yr $180Mil deal.  Had some moments...but not $180Mil worth.  Last 4 years he was an anchor on the roster and salary cap.

3. AJ Burnett 5 yr $85mil deal (around $85Mil) - Losing record and 5 ERA

4. AROD - nuf said. (10y $275Mil)

5. CC Sabathia's deal...$25Mil a year???  Oof.

5.

none of those were close to as bad

maybe elsbury but even he OPS 700+ as a yankee, not 460
