Should I reach for Bogaerts or Devers?

Recommended Posts

Devers has the higher upside... Bogaerts has a much more variable season ahead of him. Devers might not reach his potential entirely in this season, but he will definitely be moving towards it.
Bogaerts is fine for a top 8 shortstop, but his huge seasons were both unrelated statistical anomalies and you can't count on him repeating either of their production. Expect maybe a little better than 2017 for him, but not by much.

Lol so many are reactive, not proactive. Bogaerts was very good as a 22 & 23 year-old, hits .315 in April, .351 in May, then has a hand injury and now no one thinks Bogaerts is good? ? Take a look at where he ranks amongst SS dollars earned over the past 3 years.

Devers is due for regression from his debut, Bogaerts due for bounce back. Don’t listen to all these guys who spend their drafts chasing last year’s stats. Look forward, not back.

It's not a keeper. Got to be Bogaerts this year. I'm not sure Devers gets as many abs. The fact Bogaerts probably steals 15, probably will rate him higher.

If it's a keeper, i prefer Devers. maybe in a year or two, he's a 30/100 bat.

Bogaerts is much further along and has the higher upside.

Here’s my take. If I just take what XB has already done (in different seasons, of course), you get:

.320/115/21/89/15

So even if I’m not projecting any growth and just asking him to “put it all together in one season,” I think this is a fair line of “upside.” Does Devers have that upside?

Realistically, I’m looking for .285/85/18/95/13

I think he outearns Devers and people are really underestimating him. He went from overrated to underrated IMO

EDIT: And none of this matters because OP probably picked already and never came back ???‍♂️

True, Bogaerts train has slowed, to him being under valued.

Only 18 HRS for Devers? In 2 years he should be in 25-30 range.
