Anyone have any thoughts on the Milwaukee situation?

Astros with the 3-2 lead now in the 8th and Devenski is warming up in the pen for the 9th

3 of the next 4 scheduled Rangers hitters are lefties so that could be a big reason for it, Devenski has great numbers vs lefties

So Norris is the "official" closer and has a chance to run away with the job if:

1) He pitches really good

2) He pitches good and Holland continues to suck

In other words, the odds aren't bad. Norris has 2 ways to win this. At this point I might say Norris has more ROS value than Holland.

Well what is with him? From a holds league perspective does he just not pitch anymore? Seems ridiculous

He's a specialist now. But only use him in the 9th inning against certain right handers.  Long season I guess.

We are two weeks in and Giles has 1 save where he got a single batter out.  He’s been passed over to give others save chances on more than one occasion.  IMO I’d rather have the guy with better ratios who will get a few saves and that’s Devo.

Norris is a very nice short term add, I have my reservations about him succeeding long term but you could do worse than grabbing him now.

probably closing until holland is back in form.

You guys are all crazy, go ahead and please drop Giles though so I can get a good laugh. This was totally situational.

I wouldn't drop him, but he's been passed up now a few times. Does he only get to come in if it's all righties and Peacock wasn't rolling in the previous inning?

Anyone dropping Giles (or recommending dropping Giles) is being way too reactionary. The manager is simply playing matchups. And since the Rangers were sending up two lefties (followed by Chirinos, followed by yet another lefty), Devo, who is traditionally better at getting out lefties, got the call.

Sucks for fantasy purposes, but Giles will still factor into the 9th.

Edit: Also keep in mind that Giles has always been a slow starter. This could just be the Astros way of easing him in to things while they wait for the dominant version of Giles to show up.

I don't think he should be dropped but the problem is there seem to be a LOT of situational saves in Houston. Giles value should be reassessed.

Exactly.  You also never know if Holland will, but even so, might as well get as many saves out of Norris as you can.  That's why I kept him even when Holland got promoted.

It wasn't the cleanest save, but he did strike out the side and actually looked fine overall.

Redhead gets it done in the end, but needed a stupid CS attempt to get it with Moose up. Throws hard but no swings and misses and doesn't seem to have a great breaker.

I think Parker can still get that job back soon.
