HUGEMonster 3 for 3 Keeper. WHIR

Recommended Posts

This is a counter offer to a post I had earlier. Once again it's a 10 team AL only auction league. We keep 10. My team is below. I am DESPERATE for another RP and some speed. I am way in 1st in HR, Runs, RBI and in Average I am in 1st as well but not by as much. I'm bottom 3 in all pitching. I feel like this can help my average and speed while taking hit to HR & RBI. Probably break even in Runs. I then gain in Saves, maybe enough to eventually get me into top 3 or higher. I improve my ERA & WHIP. It does nothing for Wins and not much help in K's.

I give: JD Martinez ($37), Mazara ($6) & E Escobar ($1)

I get: Segura ($26), Castellanos ($18) & Treinen ($10)

Assuming I was going to keep JD Martinez & Mazara, if I now keep Segura & Castellanos they cost about the same overall.

I think that is a deal that can help you. However you OF becomes much weaker. I would ask for another bat/arm in the deal and see if he goes for it. You can always then go back the original offer.

Castellanos actually qualifies in OF. So that helps. So I could start Castellanos, Haniger, Rossario then 2 out of Profar, Nunez, A Engel, J Field & R Davis. Not ideal, but not too terrible either.

I don’t love it.  You’re gonna really weaken your greatest strength giving up Mazara and JD.  I’d probably try and pick up a more low key SB threat to put in your OF(thinking Mallex Smith/DeSheilds) that will cost you way less.  As for pitching you’d probably be just as well off picking up/trading for 2-3 next in line closers and hoping 1-2 work out.  It’s still early and you have plenty of time to come back in saves.  Don’t sell high for a blah closer like treinen.

Because it's an AL only, all closers are taken as well as the majority of the good middle relief guys. That's why I have someone like Jace Fry, Bedroisian & Oh on my team. There really isn't much else out there. As far as the stolen base guys, those 2 mentioned above are long gone and probably won't be traded away cheap. The stolen base part of the deal is kind of secondary anyway. I would like that boost for sure, but I am most interested in helping my pitching as much as possible.

So if I do this here is how I look at it.

Avg - Goes way up

Runs - I think go up a little

HR - Go way down

RBI - Go way down

Steals - Go way up

Wins -- No change

ERA - Gets better

WHIP - Gets better

Saves - Go way up

K's - Go up a little

So the stats I go down significantly are HR & RBI but I still have G Sanchez, Abreu, Jose Ramirez, Torres, Solarte, Hanigar, E Rossario and not to mention Segura & Castellanos are solid there as well. I think I'm like 20 HR ahead of the next closest guy right now.

Really hurts giving up JD and Maxara, that could be like another 40 HRs 140 RBIs, bunch of Rs ROS. Segura and Nick are very consistent hitters so you do get productive bats back. Just hard giving that package up to net a Rap.

Any chance you can trade Mazara straight for a closer or adding in another lesser player in a smaller package without JD ?

I actually could trade Mazara straight up for Trienen or Cody Allen. But I feel like that is giving up a little too much too. So by adding Segura & Castellanos for JD Martinz, it feels like it's a little more worth it to me. E Escobar has been worthless after his hot start.
