KJ12345 17
Except tomorrow might not be a save opp so he will get rest then. Jesus these managers have no common sense. You use your closer in a save opp as long as he's good to go.
EmbargoLifted 902
"get rest" is usually code for "he's not at 100% at the moment" for whatever reason or the guy is being secretly disciplined for some infraction or for any other reason the manager doesn't want to the public to know don't take almost anything they say at face value ... it's infamously called "coach speak" for a reason
absknicks 3,002
Yep, that was my immediate thought as well. That's a major red flag to me.

They can’t keep this up or they will burn him out. I wonder why they are pushing so hard: it’s not like they don’t have good arms in their pen

I think it’s because they wanted Hand to face the heart of the order (3-4-5) and hope Yates can cleanup the garbage

Is there anyway to know what’s going on with them? Roe is as likely to start a game as he is to close it out next. Kidding but not THAT kidding!

He’s incorporated a slider to go along with his disgusting sinker and now he’s getting strikeouts. He’s must own imo.
Flyman75 4,886
So is it okay to ask which you guys would prefer as the better pickup...Gsellman or Roe? Or is that forbidden in the Closer Threads?
Whizzinator 102
Personally, I'd go Gsellman. A few reasons... 1) he's been pitching better, I think, of late 2) I prefer his relatively clear opportunity over Roe's completely indecipherable one 3) Gsellman is the best pitcher of Mets options---Roe isn't (Alvarado is, imo) 4) As between Familia's health/trade vs Tampa committing to one guy I think it's a push, or the first is a better bet

As no1, Roe has been pitching better than Gsellman over the last month...especially over the last two weeks. It could also be argued that Swarzak is a better option than Gsellman. I'm not saying he is or isn't, but he was really good last year.
