Mavs actually have a pretty bad team around Luka tbh. Barnes averages 1 assists in 32 minutes a game, if thats not the biggest blackhole, I dont know what is. Jordan is one of the most overrated centers in the league, dude stat pads his rebounds by roaming the paint,rather sag off his man to try and get every rebound. Smith has one of the worst IQ for a starting PG and Wes is just old. /rant

DJ is better than any of their centers after Chandler.  Nobody better than him was coming to Dallas this season.

I think this guy has done enough to make him a serious all-star candidate, and dare I say MVP ballot if DAL can climb up the standings

 

He is proving he can score on anyone and make plays at an NBA level by being their primary ball handler

 

he already played against the NBA's legit perimeter defenders:

- Paul George, Jrue Holiday, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Avery Bradley, Patrick Beverley,

Doncic passes the eye test. Stat-wise, as a rookie, he's already in discussion with the likes of MJ and LeBron when they were rookies.

 

But, a large part of MVP consideration is being part of one of the elite teams. So yes he can't be part of that conversation with what DAL is now.

 

But, if by some Luka magic, DAL climbs up the standings and can get top 4 in the West. Those bad numbers in FG%, TOs and defensive stats should fix by itself. 

 

They have a strong record @ home, 15-3 if I'm not mistaken. Road losses are typical struggles of inexperience. I hope the DAL veterans would be enough to steer them in the right direction when playing tough road games.

I have nothing to say against such a sweeping statement. Although I'll start counting on the # of his all-star teammates rather than his time spent in the league.

 

He's the type of player who can make above average teams look really really strong.
