Can they have him on the OD roster and then send him down and still control his service time?

I believe if they basically just send him down for a month at any point it counts the same, but like, why would they do that?  Or are you just asking if they have the option to do it?  If he's good out of the gate, he's never going down.

I have him in a redraft league.  Rolling the dice.  He will produce if/when he gets the call.  I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later.

I remember they kept Longoria down the first two weeks then brought him up. Hopefully  the same for Franco.

The economics of the game have changed since then.  I can't imagine they won't Super Two him ... unless they think the imminent work stoppage will wipe away those rules.

General consensus seems to be people who get called up will be grandfathered in. I think there's a chance we see more big super two call ups this year than ever.

  • 2 weeks later...

Random question - anyone have any concerns about Wander’s right shoulder given his one armed follow through (in a similar vein to Tatis Jr.)? He seems to violently whip the bat around with his off arm, all this with a great amount of speed.

Not sure if this is a legit thing to worry about, or how common Tatis’ injury is for players that don’t follow through with two hands. A-Rod I don’t believe ever had issues with his swing

To answer your question, probably not. But even if there was a 10% he has a bad follow through that would lead to injury, what are you going to do with that information?  Everyone has risk but a few guys. 10% is probably the odds of Degrom needing TJ this year, maybe higher.

If he gets called up within the next few weeks, what are some expected projections for him?

I think he'll hit for a good average, but not great power. It's not realistic to expect Soto, Acuna, or Tatis like numbers from the get go. Given 3/4ths of a season I could envision say 15 HR, 10 SB, .280 AVG as a baseline, the AVG of course has a chance to be pretty good.

Honestly, I think there's a possibility folks might be disappointed in his output first year or two, given his style of game isn't very flashy. Given his bat to ball skills are so special, I'm willing to ride this out for the long term. I'm envisioning a Tony Gwynn type of career with more power.

If he has a Tony Gwynn type of career that would be incredible. Sign me up.

Does this guy has no chance to be called up before June? If I recall correctly Super Two is around June so it would be after that. What do you guys think??

I think Brujan gets called up before Wander

"Simply put, Franco is someone the Rays should want in the lineup every day, and they're working on making that happen by giving him time at third base as well as second during his work at the alternate training site in Port Charlotte."

The day after the super-2 deadline is most likely the date. A month in AAA to get live at-bats and in-game experience at 3b or 2b seems like the plan.

On a side note, I think we'll see a lot more prospect call-ups this June since the looming CBA expiry (and prospect service time an essential priority for the union).
