Two leagues.

Lead both in scoring.

Best I can hope for is one 3rd place finish.

(all of this after the same exact thing happened to me in fantasy baseball)

This is a fantasy year that I will not soon recover from.

Yeah, these gifs are overused, but it works...     Me all offseason:     And then by the end of week 1:

good god this sounds like a boring league. "Let's come up with a set of rules to restrict managers' ability to modify their teams, engage with the league, and react to changes in player availability d

Get out of here with this bull****

Finished first place in my league with the best record, one of the highest scoring teams lose this week to the top scoring team by 5 points, kicker put up a dud, Aaron Jones left the game with a dud. I was deemed a favourite by the rest of the league, “stacked.” I can’t believe I lost honestly, Todd Gurley is a cheat code leads bad managers to winning the league. I’m contemplating quitting fantasy football. Lost Sanders to an injury before the playoffs. This is just terrible.

Play-offs are dumb in FF. It's so variable. It should just be who has the best record (PF tiebreaker) at the end of the season.

That would be terrible. You'd basically know if you were pretty much done for by week 7-8. At least a 2-6 team could potentially rally to a 7-6 and make playoffs as opposed to pretty much being out halfway through the fantasy season.

Regarding luck!

There needs to be some bad luck for us and some good luck for the Fish(bad fantasy players) or else the bad players would quit the game and we would be left playing against all good teams. It's a lot like poker where the players who make the least mistakes win.

That being said, this year had a ridiculous amount of bad luck. The fantasy gods need to dial it back a little bit next year.

Fantasy is worst than cocaine, at least with cocaine you can have some amazing sex, unlike with fantasy football you’re too busy thinking of who to start or sit to even get it up

I can be looking at porn and at the same time be thinking about who I am going to start or sit this week.

With so many stars putting up duds and lots of production out of wavier guys I really don’t feel as bad this year about losing out. It was really such a bloodbath this week and I would imagine teams with favorable lineups lost a good 75% of the time this week. Just a brutal Sunday all around

How about this

10 teams 4 playoff teams. My team finishes 9-5   #3 seed

My team was 8th in scoring ...

I Won my semi final matchup ... but I would have lost if my team played either of the other two teams in the semi’s

one lucky SOB

While I love the randomness and luck associated with the do or die playoff If you want safer and fair way the two week matchup that ESPN does works, though then you are playing into week 17 which is the downside

I disagree...it's simply a nice safety net for teams that fluctuate more in weekly scoring than other playoff teams.

Agreed.  If you have confidence that you will assemble a better team more often than not, you should be in favor of a 2 week format.  Less chance of being knocked out on a bad week of production or an opponent with a leaser squad blowing up.  It lessens the luck factor.

We start our playoffs in week 13 (two, 2-week rounds.)  No week 17.

i just thought about having a 2 week final (weeks 16+17) to even out the randomness.  that would be interesting.

Problem is week 17 is a horrible time to play fantasy. Usually your stars will be riding the bench or play only a half, if you're lucky.

We did this for a period of time then returned to using Week 17 once teams didn't rest players as often as they used to years ago.  Back in the day, you drafted Peyton and Brady knowing they are almost surely to sit Week 17.  A few other teams were always dominant as well.  This year however with the entire league 7-6, I doubt any teams rest anyone ( outside of the Saints if they win this week )  unless players are injured and don't wanna play in a meaningless game but that's different story.

The playoffs this year make me not want to do it next year. The reality that you can draft an absolute stud like Gurley and then lose because of one off week is crazy.

This week for instance you could have had Elliot, Barkley, Hill, Allen, and Ertz. You’d lose against almost any other team. In the regular season it’s fine but in the playoffs it kills you. The amount of sheer luck in a single week makes the playoffs an absolute dart throw. Too much time goes into research for that to be the case.

Welcome to fantasy football????

This hobby has and always will be - GRIND your a** off during regular season, WIND UP in the playoffs somehow then LUCK through way to a championship.

Playoffs are always a crap shoot but its the good owners who make the post season year after year.  Winning the chip though is another set of skills where you have to throw darts and scoop up team's third string RBs taking the plunge.  Rock Cartwright, Jerome Harrison, Knile Davis, Ryan Torain are just a few names of fantasy championship legends.  If you don't like having an 'ugly' roster at this point of the year, you aren't an owner with hair on your chest yet lol

For regular season in another thread my best reg season team of goff gurley samuels (also a conner owner) chubb aaron jones a brown tyreke hill kittle (left cook kenny g and damian williams on bench) and lost.  In another league i started tyreke hill and dj moore at wr and had robby anderson and mike williams on bench so lost that one also. Out of 20 total teams 12 made playoffs and 4 have made it to championship week. Also in the yahoo 100k last week if i played derrick henry instead of saquon i would have won the 100k instead of 200 dollars. (no one is going to cry for me winning 180 profit but I would be lying if that did not keep me up at night this week some)

I definitely had some bad beats this year.  12-team PPR league.  Highest point total by 47 points over one other manager, next closest was 135 points behind.  Unfortunately, I had the 2nd highest points against.  I ended up with the 3rd seed, ending the regular season at 8/5.  Three of my losses were by less than 2 points (and two by less than 1 point), and lost a fourth because of the Chiefs/Rams MNF score-fest (literally that team's highest weekly score of the entire season by about 30 points).  If any one of those goes the other way, I'm the No. 1 overall seed, and the way things played out, I would have been in the finals in a decent money league playing the second best team in the league.  As it stands, I lost the semis because Cam can't throw a damn ball, though I'd have beat every other team in the league this week...except the guy I played (2nd best team in the league).  Those close losses hurt more now than they did at the time...

In 2 of my 3 leagues I had the top team:

12 team work league -  I lost the 1st game of the season and ran the table, also scoring the most points. I then lost to the #8 seed in the playoffs.

12 team neighborhood league - #1 seed in the league, lost in 1st round of the playoffs.

Now, I don't want to blame 1 player...because, you know...EVERY player could have had more points. But this guy had a great year and then put up a stinker in a playoff week.

I'll give you another reason (and hint) why I don't blame the player. It's because I blame the coach.

First correct guess wins...NOTHING! :D
