Ace_King 589
Why is a power bat like him batting 2nd instead of 4th or 5th to get more RBI opportunities?

Because they typically pull him late in games when they have the lead. Hitting him 2nd allows him to get that extra at bat in late in the game before they sub in a defensive replacement. 2

Ummm, he is pretty much an everyday starter at this point. He's started 9 games straight and 14 of their last 16. Playing time is no longer a concern even if their OF is still a bit crowded. 9 hours ago, Ace_King said: Why is a power bat like him batting 2nd instead of 4th or 5th to get more RBI opportunities? Not sure why my post was deleted, but like I said last night, him batting 2nd is a good thing as he should see a lot of good pitches batting ahead of Machado. Like so... Don't fix what isn't broke for now but this dude is a prototypical cleanup hitter...
