I've been mulling over selling him in my dynasty league and decided to dive into his 2018 MLB production. I think there are some factors hinting at significant risk that he fails to approach his 2018

Guy has a contract for over 20 million, still cooks for himself.     Apparently in this case he probably shouldn't have.

A little late to be a response to the pitty party, but people talking about Laureano like this guy didn’t strike out near 30% last year. There’s significant swing-and-miss. There’s BA risk. And that’s

Hope he don't go all A Riley on us

He's got some swing and miss to his game but it's nothing like Riley's struggles.

Laureano is at 26.9% K% and 13% swinging strike rate. 73% Contact%.  Not too far off MLB averages.

Riley is an ungodly 34.3% K%, 20.9% swinging strike rate, and 63% Contact%.

The link below is to  a new FanTrax article written by Mike Kurland about whether Laureano's recent production is a mirage or the legitimate break-out of a stud.

The piece includes Statcast data charting of and evaluation of splits, batted ball data, plate discipline, etc.

Dig in.

FWIW I had a shin stress reaction last year and the doctor told me no running for two months, then ease your way back into it. But I'm over 40 so I would think 4 weeks is a pretty good bet for a young professional athlete getting full time care. I wouldn't bank on him running much when he's back though.

Yeah this is pretty piss poor from Yahoo.  Borderline ESPN levels of trash.

Someone in the platforms thread said that blurb about the A's having put him on the IL was incorrect.  They will but haven't yet and intil they do ALL platforms have to refrain jumping the gun.

Huge blow to the As, especially that OF defense. Though the dude was raking with the bat. Martini is a pure LF, good hit tool, but brings nothing else to the table. I guess Canha will play CF? Would love to see Dustin Fowler get another look, but he's buried in AAA.

Totally was wrong about this guy. Reverse smurf jinx always the best as he raked while in my lineup. Unfortunately the smurf injury curse also got him.

He did seem to improve his plate discipline. If he can make another step there then we'd have a legit star.
