Andrew Luck 2019 Outlook

Message added by tonycpsu

It seems some members have some strong opinions about Luck's retirement, which is to be expected given the timing, but those opinions need to be expressed in conformance with the site guidelines.  In particular, this means no political discussion, no attacking other members, and no offensive language.  If the discussion here does not stay focused on football, then this thread will be locked for a lengthy cooling off period, and users will be subject to a suspension of posting privileges.

i have a feeling he won't stay retired for long but nonetheless... the greatest to ever wear that colts uniform

Should come back in 2 years after Brady retires.

yall saying RIP colts fantasy players but Jacoby Brissett is actually decent

Sure, but Hilton is much worse with Brissett, Mack's YPC was a yard lower in 2017, and Ebron...is a tight end. Any fantasy relevant Colts are going to be majorly affected by this news.

I wonder if the Colts had a heads up.  There were rumors of teams interested in Brissett and they declined offers.

I remember Barry Sanders retirement catching people off guard, but IIRC Sanders at least did it during the summer.  Luck doing this two weeks before the season starts!?!?  Has anyone ever done this before?

It really sucks for the Colts, but at the same time he obviously wasn't planning this since January or anything. I'm sure this has a lot to do with his recent injury, whether it be the injury itself or the handling of it by Colts brass.

With Luck being only 29, we might be in for a solid decade of un-retirement rumors every time a starting QB gets injured.

Class act. Never cried, never bitched, always took the blame for every bad play even if it wasn’t his fault. Wish him the best. I’m sure he’ll be back soon in some capacity, either TV or front office.

Forfeiting ~$59M by retiring early, wow.

He’s a smart dude. He made his money, it’s invested. He took a ton of shots in his career. Couple that with his other ailments and I don’t blame him for calling it quits

His dad is involved with the XFL. He could've just gone to injured reserve and collected millions. I think he's planning to either play or coach in the XFL

Good tip!  I'm taking him in the 1st round in every one of my XFL fantasy drafts coming up.

Wonder if he and the team negotiated something. Don't see why he leaves so much money on the table when he could have rode the IR.

I believe he came from money so doubt it matters.

Andrew Luck is a very intelligent person, this doesn't surprise me at all.

I can pretty much guarantee you he never had plans to have an extremely long career in the NFL to begin with.

Most likely he had a financial plan set and once he felt like he didn't have the hunger to come back from these injuries anymore he was done.

Luck was a good player but never had the desire like a Marino, Elway, or Brady etc.
