You bring up good points. The fact of the matter however is that there, at least in my opinion, aren’t 30 starters that I feel very secure both with the performance and the durability. There’s probabl

The 11k’s are fantastic but I’m thrilled to see the zero walks. His stuff is so good and he is so proficient at inducing weak contact that it’s so frustrating to see him give up free passes.

The guy's a thrower. His location is terrible. Catches way too much of the plate. He is down the middle on most of his strikes.

Last year 2nd half looks like he found consistency in release point or whatever reason that gave him the command to elevate his game. But now he's back to whoever he is. Good stuff, but mid-rotation guy at best.

At 28 years old he should be revving up to his prime. Top 20 starter ROS?

If only he can improve his FB command. Dude often catches too much of the plate. Survives on pure stuff alone.

Nice cal, and its true. I want to bielve he will take the next step.

I see Chris Paddack as a similar pitcher....but with the control.  Paddack can pound the strike zone with precision.

Wheeler, im not so sure about.

It's ashame cuz his fastball is elite (it was better than Degrom's last year). If a lesser guy threw the FB down the pipe as often as Wheeler does, his ERA would be like Harvey's. The fact that Wheeler is doing ok despite poor FB command speaks volume to how good the pitch is. This year it's been about half as effective as it was last year (per FG). He's also been hurt by his breaking stuff. If his FB location is better, I think that will set up his breaking stuff better too.

So, early thoughts about starting him @arizona on Thursday?  Weekly league - got to make some decisions in the next 24 hours....

I am tempted to roll him out there, but............  OK, looking at the early season Ballpark factors... gonna have to roll him out there........
