How? HPB? In the field?

He was trying to get a bunt single. Held the bat with his finger exposed and ball hit his pointer finger on his right hand. It was definitely dislocated. The trainer came out to reset the finger. Hopefully the swelling from the dislocation is all it will be and no structural damage.

Get your backup plans in order. I could read his lips and he told the trainer he broke it. Didn’t seem to be in much pain but did walk to the dugout in frustration. We’ll see what the x-rays say.

It looks like it maybe hit the bat first.  It doesn't look like it got mashed square between the ball and the barrel of the bat.  The problem is with a digit even a good poke of the finger could easily fracture or break the bones.   What do you guys think they'd do if Turner was out for an extended period?  Would the Keiboom kid get called up, or would they stick Difo in there.  I'd think the latter.

I know it’s wishful thinking but that ball clearly centered his index finger.

Nationals manager Davey Martinez announced late Tuesday that Trea Turner has a broken right index finger.

Turner suffered the injury while attempting to bunt in the bottom of the first inning of Tuesday night's loss to the Phillies. Recovery times can vary greatly for this type of thing, but the 25-year-old shortstop is headed for the 10-day injured list and will probably miss several weeks of action.
