2019 Call Up Watch Thread

Message added by tonycpsu

This thread is for discussion of confirmed and/or imminent call-ups.  If you've seen news that someone has been called up, or informed speculation from reputable sources that someone may be on their way to the show soon, feel free to share these items with the community here.  Do not ask "who's going to be called up next?" -- that's what the thread is for, so asking is superfluous.  Also, do not use this thread for deep dives into specific minor league players -- that's what their MiLB outlook threads are for.

As a reminder, this thread is often used for the RW community to receive triggered notifications when players are called up. As a courtesy to those persons, we try to limit other ancillary discussion

Newsome, Pleasac, Genesis Cabrera all pitching today for their debuts I believe. Interesting guys to watch in all leagues. If one has a big game, I'm sure they will be scooped.

Cardinals recalled RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon from Triple-A Memphis.(Ponce de Leon will provide some length out of the Cards' bullpen. He allowed one run over five innings in a spot start earlier this season.)

Another big pitching call-up:

Craig Mish of FNTSY Sports Radio confirms that the Marlins will promote RHP prospect Zac Gallen to start Thursday against the Cardinals.

Gallen will be making his major league debut against the team that traded him away for Marcell Ozuna in the 2017-2018 offseason. The 23-year-old right-hander has been absolutely dominant this year at the Triple-A level, posting a 1.77 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, and 112/17 K/BB ratio in 14 starts covering 91 1/3 innings. If he wasn't already stashed, he needs to be scooped up off the waiver wire in all mixed and NL-only fantasy leagues.
