tonywow 1,179
Seems like they screw him up when they don't have him hitting lead off right from the beginning of the season. His 2016 season he started and hit lead off most of the year, then towards the end of the second half of the season was moved around from 3rd/4th but had a really nice year. For 2017 they had him hitting 3rd quit often in the early part/first half of the year, later in the season kept moving him around 3rd/4th to try and get him going. The 2017 season he still had very good numbers when all was said and done, but went through some stretches where you could mistake him for Dyson. In 2018 we seen him lead off all year having a great season, which they need to just keep him at lead off where he is most comfortable. The Sox lineup has been good this year certainly, but I don't feel like they've really gotten hot as a team yet. Devers/Xander/JD have been very good, Betts ok so far, but hopefully being back in lead off he gets his mojo back. If you go back and read through his 2017 thread, it's almost identical to everything people are posting in this years thread. Then 2016/2018 mirror each other pretty well also with a lot of high praise and Trout comparisons. The good news is he probably will be hitting lead off for the rest of his Sox career here on out, think they've given up on experimenting with him in other spots. Bad news like in 2017 not hitting lead off out the gate, seemed to thrown him off track for large parts of the season and ended up having a down year.
dkrocka 267
Were you really expecting this guy to hit 330 again? Comping him to Trout isn't THAT far-fetched, but come on man.

I said this all through this thread since the start of the season. this is probably a big part of the problem. they won a world series now want to tinker with the lineup. Comping him to Trout isn't THAT far-fetched, but come on man. I'm not sure everyone was. But the gap between him and Trout shouldn't be this wide. Maybe Mookie needs to be dropped a draft round next year to factor in his yearly volatility and lack of consistency. This is trending to be worse than 2017 because at least then he was stealing bases and would sprinkle in a few monstrous games to buoy your team. Dude is only above average in one category - runs. All his other cats are average or subpar. He has stopped stealing bases for the past few weeks and his BA is cratering.
KingJoffrey 910
Come on it's not because they hit him in the 2 hole...really reaching for excuses. Hitting in front of JD MArtinez? It's prime time. Mookie just had a career year last year. He will walk and he will score runs. But his power and speed are limited. Should be taken end of first round maybe early 2nd round next year.

Mookie will fill sheet eventually. Unfortunately we may never know what his average will be on a yearly basis. Sadly looking like this. Toss a dart to figure out who you’re getting each year. But he’s proving to be a massive fluctuation BABIP bat. His floor is very nice so you’ll rarely get burned. But it’s anybodies guess if he’s top 30 or top 3. Take a guess and don’t act like a genius if you’re right. Nobody knows.
buzzkilloton 248
I'm still a believer. He makes for a good buy low! Keep in mind i just bought two shares of Jo-Ram in the past two weeks as well so i may just be a sucker!

Benintendi has never had a better offensive year than him, so your last sentence is completely meaningless. Might as well say “That’s cuz JBJ is having a bad year.” Well, yeah. I get the frustration. He’s been meh. But top 30 overall suggests a hot streak could move him up quick.
mlb2019 170
wanted to trade this dude in a keeper league at the start of the season but couldn't get his value going into season. everybody was going on about Vlad Jr. positives....he is on pace for last season in runs score and a career best in walks. FoulPole 44
Yea this guy really sucks. Watching his at bats it's like he's trying to draw a walk every time he's at the plate. Doesn't even swing at good pitches. What a waste of a roster spot seriously.
