He must be yelling ‘ball’ before he throws each pitch.

In 2017 he gave up 2HR once and never 3. In 2018 he never gave up more than 1. Guess we have different definitions of "very prone".

Conley is in at the top of the 7th of a 1-1 tied game, in case anyone cares about any speculation on the Marlins.

I’ve assumed it’s Romo getting the ninth from day one with a long leash

Me too. Just worth keeping an eye on Conley and Steckenrider, who is now pitching in the 8th down 2-1.

Alvarado sat at 98,99 and touched 100.  Faced the bottom of the order, not the heart of the lineup in a close game. Still early, but its something.

I know right. Saw him in person during spring, there a reason why he’s on 4/4 fantasy teams of mine this year

Romo looked rough.

Yeah.  Might be one and done for me now.  Might not be worth worrying about the Miami situation given how awful they will be.

I don't think the rule change will save "the closer" at all.  Just endanger the boring left-handed specialist.  And it isn't until next year anyway.

If anything it will make the closer more of a thing.  You can't play matchups so easily with a 3 batter minimum.

Based on usage, and even despite his poor performance tonight, do you think Romo is the closer?

Conley still took the loss, the whole pen was shaky. Probably a wash. But I’m super bummed as someone who punted saves and landed romo in my super deep Nl only earlier.

Strickland just got blown apart. Moreland off the bench puts 3 on the board and Hunter hot head blows a 2 run lead.

Looked like trash doing it too.  Slider was all over the place and the pitch Moreland took deep was garbage.

Elias in to clean up the mess.

Barnes looks great.

Just wait until he throws sliders in the dirt and walks the bases loaded.  He started out looking like that was going to happen again tonight but righted the ship this time so props to him for that.  I'm glad he made it through okay but the Mariners helped him some by being aggressive.  Please get that toe well soon, Brasier.
