that is insane.  Get him up to double A now...

Yeah he’s just not being tested by high A Pitching. He’s going to the plate with a swing at everything approach and because these pitchers mostly don’t have much in the way of off speed offerings he is crushing everything. AA Is where we will actually see what he can do against legit pitching.

With minor league Opening Day here, this thread is for providing updates on a daily basis of how prospects performed around the minors. If there are prospects that you are following, feel free to post

First off thanks for the recommendation, SpartyOn4! And this forum is awesome to keep track of minors players. Minor League Ball had a different feel for sure, but this place can be great in its own r

Will Benson, OF, CLE just jacked FOUR dingers

Very impressive night for Benson.  That said, he is still striking out a ton in his repeat of Low A.  The power is real, but for him to become more than a Quad A guy, he will need to refine his approach.

Nico Hoerner, SS Cubs AA - 3/4 with 1 RBI & 1 Run.  Currently slashing .333/.434/.489 with a 7/7 K/BB ratio.  He could be getting fast tracked, so Russell better pick it up quickly when he returns from suspension.

Jazz Chisholm (DBacks AA SS) 2-4 2HRs, BB.  J-Chizz has had a rocky start to his double A debut, but that can be expected with the aggressive ranking of the just turned 21 year old.  The power is real and there is a chance at 20-20 seasons if all breaks right, but he will need to get his K% under control.  Right now, he has continued to be very aggressive with 20Ks in 54PA.

Zac Gallen.  It continues.  6.2IP, 7hits, 0ER, 3BBs, 6Ks, 100 Pitches (68 strikes).  The line isn't 'as' good tonight but of note, they let him go longer and he gave up a couple base runners in the 7th.  Microscopic ERA goes down again.

Dustin May, RHP, Double-A Tulsa (LAD)

5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 78 pitches, 42 strikes, 8 1st-pitch strikes, 2 swinging strikes, 21 batters faced

Contact allowed: 9 ground balls, 3 line drives, 3 fly balls

FB (94-97)

Pros: Heavy fastball is legit. It generated weak, soft ground ball contact all night.

Cons: His secondaries are definitely a work in progress. No swings-and-misses on the curve or the changeup. His two swinging strikes were on fastballs. Maybe I caught him on an off night. He fell behind a lot.
