Any word on him being in the rotation?

If some thought he may stick does that mean he may be up early May?

Paxton out with left elbow discomfort. If you haven’t already, now is the time to pick up and stash this kid.

Well the Mariners had a 6 man rotation.  I could see them going with the standard 5 to save on Gilbert's service time and even arbitration which, if they do the latter, could push things into the June call-ups time.  But yeah in dynasty leagues Gilbert was long gone before this season.

This will get interesting...they can wait him out a few weeks yet but should be an option soon thereafter. Pax getting a 2nd opinion on his elbow, which is almost always bad news. The 5 man, as it is currently constituted, isn't exactly enthralling. Dunn has found some extra ticks but can not seem to control it whatsoever.

FYI, From CBS:

Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Not candidate to replace Paxton

Gilbert is still projected to make his major-league debut in 2021, but the Mariners plan on him logging the bulk of his innings in the second half of the campaign despite the rotation vacancy created by James Paxton's season-ending elbow injury, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Manager Scott Servais noted Wednesday that the organization will be careful with all of its minor-league arms, especially those on the cusp of the majors, after they went without pitching in official games all of 2020. As it pertains to Gilbert specifically, the Mariners are interested in the 23-year-old finishing out the season at the big-league level as opposed deploying him at the front end of the campaign and then shutting him down early because he reaches his innings limit.
