kidtwentytwo 5,384
Aka the guys who follow the openers Ryan Yarborough & Jalen Beeks who else could be a candidate for this role?
brockpapersizer 11,566
This is particularly important for points leagues with starts limits. Yarborough was one of the most valuable players in these formats last year. More valuable than some really good starters.

arthurpete 222
Yonny Chirinos was another solid post starter guy
Sidearmer 2,125
Seth Lugo while not a traditional bulk guy is the long man for the Mets and when they do have "bullpen games" is usually the guy who goes 3-4 innings. And he did very well at this last year. As a Mets fan I am familiar with him, I'm sure there's other guys like this who should be able to hit 100 innings without making more than a couple starts. Corey In Da House 519
The Brewers are the ones to keep an eye on.with Junior Guerra, Brent Suter, and Freddy Peralta.
Golden Spikes 2,041
Matt Strahm, although early reports are looking good on him becoming a full time starter
Golden Spikes 2,041
I think a better thing would look at which teams are most likely to employ bullpen games Padres and Rays are the obvious 2, but who else?

TheChamp 36
Looked for this a few times this season, and haven't found anything, but with the Rays playing so great this season, and whoever comes in after the "Opener" has been put in some great spots to snag some easy wins, figured this could be a good thread to discuss who they are saying, or speculating who would be the next pitcher in after the opener. That being said, if anyone has heard anything about who is coming in after Stanek tomorrow, I'd personally love to know!
pbjfb 778
I'm guessing yarbrough
Ace_King 589
I figured the time has come for a bulk relievers thread, building on the success of the perennial middle relievers thread. Felix Pena will serve as the primary pitcher/bulk reliever again tomorrow, coming in after an "opener" (who is TBD).
Dr. Whom 3,014
How do you guys rank them? Chirinos and pena seem to be the elite or am I missing a few?
Theschill38 129
Pretty sure Pena isn't pitching tomorrow since Heaney is starting.

Beeks is another one for TB. Not sure if he's going tomorrow or Chirinos. But I do have Pena and Chirinos ahead of Beeks as long as Pena is facing RHB heavy lineups. League settings are a factor. Where these guys help most are in weekly points leagues with starts caps, since they give you de facto start volume without counting against the limit and where innings and strikeouts trump ratios. They help in rotisserie leagues with a starts limit too, but they aren't as helpful their since their ratios may hurt you relative to other relievers you could have rostered instead. I use them in a weekly points league. There Beeks is a clear third since he is only RP elgible so I have to bench one of my two normal relievers. Pena and Chirinos come with the advantage of filling in for a SP who isn't pitching that day while not consuming a RP slot. If I had to choose it would be Chirinos, Pena, Beeks in that order in points and Chirinos, Beeks, Pena in roto. Tampa is a much better bet to yield a win than the Angels. kidtwentytwo 5,384
There was a thread about them earlier. Outside of around 4 guys, these relievers are pretty tough to predict

to_be_quite_frank 966
Since we call them "Openers" we should call the Bulk Reliever the "Headliner" Keep with the concert theme My favorite headliner Jalen Beeks is performing today
