Posting Iglesias’ numbers and concluding that “ maybe I shouldn’t have drafted him in fantasy baseball” would be fine. Jumping from those numbers to the conclusion that David Bell is a bad manger is obviously absurd given the facts I posted earlier regarding run prevention and the Reds’ otherwise garbage team. That’s all I’m saying.

Bell is paid to manage the team and Iglesias is paid to get guys out. That’s it, simple really. Much simpler than some convoluted cherry picking of Iglesias’ stats.

I hear what you're saying, promise. And I respect you, will agree to disagree.

I mean, neither of them are playing in the majors at the moment ... So ... what we were told WAS true ...

the analytical departments ARE taking on more power on many teams BECAUSE SOME MANAGERS ARE SLOW TO LEARN how to best use their players....................

This circle jerk is fascinating to me. Really. Iglesias sucks as a pitcher. David Bell is a good manager. Chopping up statistics to suggest otherwise is a way to spend your time, if that's what you enjoy.

I mean, how about next we can see how Iglesias pitches in night games vs. day games and then blame Bell for not using someone else based on more silly randomly picked stats that have no actual proof of affecting a pitcher’s ability to do his job and get guys out whatsoever? Sounds like a plan.

Stopped reading there.  Igelsias blows, no doubt about that.  But David Bell is one of worst managers in baseball.  Dudes a loser.  If his last name wasn’t Bell he wouldn’t be near a major league bench.

Neris and Diaz gave up a combined 8 runs 2/3 of an inning.

Complaining about a topic that you think is derailing the thread and then bringing up that exact topic isn't a great look. If you think a topic is derailing a thread, report the post(s) in question.

Total tossup..neither one has been worth a damn this year...lol

Nick Anderson’s numbers look pretty damn solid to me. Just looks like he’s been really really unlucky this year though. I ran hard to pick him up just now and suggest y’all do the same!

Kimbrel converts, but looked like he has some rust to shake off.  Benefited by an excellent defensive play by Rizzo (where he forgot to cover) and a ball called strike three on McCann.

Actually it sounds pretty normal to how he pitched last year.  Cubs fans get used to walking the edge of disaster saves from him.

Guess I’m grateful I’m not a Cubs fan!

Which closers are flawless?

Resume? lol - He's been in COL two years now and if i'm not mistaken, he performed the same act last year, where he was pretty descent to start the season, but ultimately ended up being a train wreck.. This guy's probably going to be a dumpster fire for the remainder of this year, alternating back and forth between saves and EPIC fails.

I think Alvarado may be one of the better second-half closers.  He's got filthy stuff, has little competition, and may be over whatever mental issues may have affected his pitching earlier in the season.  Rays handle pitchers well and he was a sleeper on many lists headed into this year.  If you're in a league that counts HLDs it's even better.
