Long overdue for his own thread. Anyways, he played his first game last night after a long lay off thanks to a pitch in the hand. He went 3/4 with a HR,BB and SB raising the season line to .305/.381/.525 with an 8.8BB% and 18.6K%. Because of the missed time, due to the hand injuries, he may see some repeat time in A ball, but he's also a guy who should see various top 100 lists in the off season.

Agree absolutely.  Posted about him in "Deep Sleepers" earlier this year.  He was a two-sport athlete, who had not committed to playing baseball full-time until recently.  Taking that into account, it makes his year even more impressive, imo, in a pitcher-friendly league.  Unfortunate that he got injured a couple times that put him on the IL, otherwise, I would have expected him making a jump onto most Top 100 lists (had he played and performed over the full season).  I would still anticipate he will get on some lists, but he may be still a bit of a sleeper for some leagues going into next year.  For me, if he is available in your league, I would grab him.

This guy may be the most underhyped prospect, who deserves quite a bit of hype.  Freak athlete that seems to have developed way faster than anyone expected.

Brett Sayre has him at #40 prospect

imaginarybrickwall has him at #24 prospect #149 OVERALL for dynasty

24) Brennen Davis CHC, OF, 20.5 – At an athletic 6’4”, 175 pounds, Davis has a plus power/speed combo with a good feel to hit. He slashed .305/.381/.525 with 8 homers, 4 steals, and a 38/18 K/BB in 50 games at Full-A. He’s still not getting his due respect. ETA: 2022 Prime Projection: 86/28/93/.274/.340/.495/13

ROTOWIRE.COM

Davis homered for the second straight game for High-A South Bend on Tuesday.

Spin: The 21-year-old missed the beginning of the minor-league season while recovering from a head injury, but now that he's healthy Davis is tearing the cover off the ball, going 3-for-9 in his first three games for South Bend with three walks, a double and two steals in addition to the two long balls. The Cubs' No. 1 fantasy prospect was originally expected to report to Double-A once he was cleared for game action, so it may not be long before he gets a promotion if he continues to dominate High-A pitching.

IF this kid can put it all together, he can be a 5 category contributor - HUGE athletic ability.  The Cubs had him in their major league camp throughout the majority of Spring Training this year.

Fun side note - he's the son of former NBA All-Star player Reggie Theus.

Any chance Cubs are aggressive with him and promote him to the big leagues toward the end of the year, or are we looking at mid-season 2022 for Super-2?

I think its really hard to say. They have so much fluidity with all those expiring contracts and also their place in the standings. Sorry thats not more helpful haha - I just personally think the Cubs may be the hardest to predict in the league.

Yeah the real life lists are behind lots of times. James Anderson will have him at 6 overall today.

James is the best at what he does. Not afraid to get aggressive. He mentioned that he thinks Davis might have 70 grade power

Been struggling early in AA. But he's starting to show signs of "figuring it out". I'd like to see that K% to keep coming down.

Ultimately, I think he was being too passive at the beginning (as evident of his huge BB% and K%) but is starting to swing more often and put balls in play.

As a young 21 year old, a .823 OPS and a 134 WRC+ is super encouraging (despite the strikeouts)

Was fun watching him today.  Easy power with room to fill out.  His Doby MVP speech was less than inspiring though.

Top 10 prospect IMO.
