Christian Wood 2019-2020 Outlook

Recommended Posts

Wood owner here, but am I the only one that’s not that bullish?

Drummonds gone but Wood was doing just fine with Drummond in the lineup. Everyone else is still here. Plus Henson is incoming. I kinda feel like the deadline was neutral. It wouldn’t shock me to see a sub 20 minute outing in the next week.

your post history is funny skimming over it. you literally write the same three things in every thread, not a single time have you made a solid recommendation or write up (couldn’t really take lo

Guys he’s a journeyman, drop now before it’s too late.

Drummond is perfect for the Knicks. He fits horribly next to Randle, clogs the floor so no one can get to the rack without a help defender easily getting there. He doesn't contribute to winning. He is

You may be suffering from a case-y of caseyidis, I don't blame you.

This just popped up after yesterday's game and has some promising quotes from Casey:

https://www.nba.com/pistons/features/opportunity-knocks-woods-door-and-so-far-results-are-promising

Getting 30+ min in a game where Drummond was healthy and playing 32-35 bodes really well. In the past when Kieff sat, Casey played Snell at PF and Maker 25+ minutes, while Wood received 13-15 minutes.

He has no choice at this point. Henson is not going to eat up 20+ min, Wood also has the factor of being there first and learning the Pistons "system". He also looks really good defensively the past two weeks, he's hawking guys and trapping/blitzing guards hard and rotating back really well. Blocked shots and steals both seeing an uptick from a period in early Jan where he wasn't getting any stocks, and it's reflected in the way he's playing on the court with better instincts between playing passing lanes and knowing when to commit to a block.

As spoken about previously, it's also promising that they declined offers from multiple teams from Wood, they clearly believe in him, he's a free agent, if they didn't care about him or think he's going to walk you would think they would take whatever they can get (hell they took almost nothing for Drummond).

Henson isn't nearly the player Drummond is, he's a shot blocking specialist, these types generally don't see anything beyond the 10-15 minute stints because they're offensive liabilities.

Maker and Henson both suck, Markieff is a shut down candidate and is struggling with injuries, the runway is clear. The path to minutes was always there, he just needed the dominos to fall into place, and they have.

There may be a slight adjustment period if he becomes the starter, but even with some bumps the lines are going to be juicy.

reading pages 16-17-18 of this thread is hilarious.. I got crucified a ton for sticking by Wood since early December.

If you believe in something or someone stick by it, even if people say things such as:

"you hype bums"

"you lead people astray"

"tell us more about some of your prospects"

"he's a career journeyman, he's been on 5 teams for a reason"

and so on and so forth

don't get pressured into going against what you're seeing with statistical evidence and observation.

Great call buddy, well done.

Coach Dwane Casey said it's time for Christian Wood to step up, but wouldn't commit to starting him yet.

"The OMG moments are gone and now it's real," Casey said. "You don't have someone to fall back on. It's time to step in. This is for our young guys to grow up, to be responsible, be pros, do what you're supposed to do and do your job." It's on. Wood has been ridiculous as a five man, putting up per-36 stats of 22.9 points, 12.0 boards, 1.4 dimes, 1.1 steals, 1.9 blocks and 1.1 treys in 604 minutes without Andre Drummond next to him. He's made 81.0% at the rim in that sample, and he's at a career-high 37.6% from three. He's basically a fantasy cheat code and has an excellent shot at early-round value going forward

well, tbh morris is probably the choice for tonight against gallo on the 4 spot and i dont have to say much for the C spot, no way he starts against adams but he’ll def get to the 30 mark, it would be foolish of casey not to give him 30+ from now on

He doesn't really hurt u anywhere and gets u 1+ threes at the center spot, I don't get the hate for fantasy purposes, not his fault he plays on a terrible team under Casey lol.

Don't get me wrong, I absolute love him. I stashed him in all my leagues. I think he's basically 1/2 Anthony Davis lol

Lol @ all the doubt

This dude is gonna eat. There will alot of those 3-26-12-2-2-2 games ahead, but I question his overall mental toughness, so he might have some 1-8-3-0-01 type games also, but overall this guy is gonna be a monster to own.

thon maker is a 30yr+ old bum pretending to be 22, he aint doin jack

I'd bet money that Thon starts most of the rest of the way. But like I said before, Wood will still probably get 30mpg. Unless Casey'd.

Mitchell Robinson all over again. It's like a gluttony for disappointment. But I hope this last forever. Laughs are good for the heart.

Casey stays playing mind games lol. Said he won’t commit to starting him this morning....now starting him 😂

Not exactly mind games. He's starting at power forward. Not hard to see where this is headed lol.
