Weekday Warrior 189
Stumbled across this still-in-progress prospect mock draft between 16 industry writers and/or podcasters. First 5 rounds are done and the list is updated here ... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xRe3iuvCXPXsbxj3l-_ouBnc7xUbKAfv_k2q9lVgyBw/htmlview# Definitely skews toward young upside guys with Marco Luciano, Jasson Dominguez, Julio Rodriguez, and Kristian Robinson all going in the top 10 (!!). 1
buccsfan22 27
Seeing Kiriloff drop 10 spots from last year hurts lol

brockpapersizer 11,958
Sean Murphy is a top 10 fantasy catcher right now and is at 130 on here. Funny. Theres a bunch of guys in front of him that I don't feel great about and I'm like, why wouldnt I watch a top 10 catcher right now over Estevan Florial. Seems nuts. I started the Luis Campusano thread here, love him. How he gets picked over Sean Murphy is bonkers. Edited November 8, 2019 by brockpapersizer

I heard Chris Welsh discussing this draft on his podcast and they are drafting each position for a roster so the results may be a little skewed. 1

A bit surprised to see Vaughan fall to #26, which is after CJ Abrams (obviously someone is a big believer) and also Bobby Witt. I also think minor league drafts that require you to maintain certain positions is also dumb.

You are surprised 1st year players with 5 cat upside were drafted before a first year 4 cat upside player? Guy that picked Abrams probably fully believes he will grow into his 6'2 frame. Not saying I agree, but it's defensible.

I'm saying that a lot of (fantasy) prospect sites have Vaughan ahead of pretty much all of them regardless 5 cat v. 4 cat. For sure, it would seem that there are some that think otherwise, that's all. haha.

Based on what I saw from him last year, my defensive optimism that will keep in him tin he lineup as much as one can for a catcher, the weakness of the overall position, and personally watching him hit last year. He checks a lot of boxes for me. If you're not there yet, that's fine. I am. Personally even if he's closer to 15, I think that warrants much higher than 130 overall on prospects. Nah, I've made it clear in the past that I respect your opinion. Was just hoping to hear what it is that has you so high on him. I will definitely keep an eye on him if you say so. I've got Will Smith and Mejia cheap in a dynasty salary league but I am always on the lookout for cheap alternatives if I can use the other more commonly known names as trade chips. I just really believe he will be a set it and forget it catcher for a long while, even if he never cracks the top fantasy tier of catchers.

Fbaseballgod 354
So.... how can Jasson be 6 on one list and ~46 on another? Like how is that even possible....
hailfire4 413
proximity to majors. As a 16 year old paying a first round price on a 4 year bench guy is hard to swallow. Even if he pans out at age 20 he would have to be really great to be worth that investment. Even drafting him to trade is iffy considering the time he is doing nothing for ur team. Historically 16 year old kids have not been in the draft pools like Eloy who was 18 before he got added. The Maitan comp sounds pretty good. who knows after 4 years in America with money he might find other distractions and let baseball slide. Also teams tend to let the kids finish high school. Which is why JRod and the others tend to do the short season and summer league teams at age 18.

Yup...the upside is immense but the wait is horrible. He will generate a lot of hype so I think he’s definitely got some value in the right situation.
ChicksDigTheOPS 2,496
Dylan Carlson can rake, is polished, and should be up soon. I like Welsh snagging him at 12. Interesting to see Adell #2 overall, I've seen him drop more toward the 10 spot in some lists. I'd have a hard time taking him over Lux, even with the huge speed advantage. Kieboom lasted longer than Alec Bohm and CJ Abrams? Y'all be trippin. Madrigal is a guy whose value probably depends a lot on league size. In a large dynasty, his (all but) guaranteed playing time and run/steals potential gives him awesome value. Nick Solak way down at 72? with 2B/OF eligibility no less? Solak can really play. Y'all sleeping. Shelly may have pick of the draft snagging Urquidy at 93 -- I expect good things from him in 2020, and long term. Love Hankins at 116, future SP2 imo. Nice one, Mr. Anderson. Mauricio Dubon at #203? I must be overrating him or something -- I see 20-15 or 15-20 in his near future. My how Keibert Ruiz has fallen. Or maybe, my how Will Smith has risen. (same with Yusniel Diaz) I like Lance snagging Malcom Nunez as an upside play at 329, despite Nunez' struggles. I also like Aaron Ashby at 428. Nice move by Welsh snagging Enoy Jimenez at pick 469 -- he'll make a great trade asset to offer leaguemates who drink too much.
