2020 Potential Free Agents- Fantasy Implications

Recommended Posts

This is about the time those in keepers and dynasty leagues start looking at next year (especially if you are eliminated). Here are my very early predictions; let's discuss.

QB:

D.Brees - 41 years old; Teddy looked solid (I believe mostly in part to a motivated team that no one had faith in) but something has to give. Teddy will command starer money now and the Saints will have to make a tough decision. You either sign Drew for another year and let Teddy walk or let Drew walk and build around Teddy.

Prediction: Resigns; not sold on Bridgewater.

T.Brady- 43 years old. A.Brown probably gets another chance with the Pats next year to keep Brady happy or they sign A.Green.

Prediction: Resigns

P.Rivers - Gone. They probably sign a bridge like Manning/Mariota/Keenum and pick a QB. Unfortunately they won't have a high pick so will have to reach or trade up.

Prediction: Done in LA

J.Winston- 26 yrs old but I think his time in TB is over after this year. Some team will give him another chance though.

Prediction: Done in TB

E.Manning- I can see him having a Case Keenum in Minnesota type impact for some QB needy team.

Prediction.Signs with Cincinnati to mentor Burrow or bridge situation with LA Chargers or Panthers.

C.Newton - I think Carolina looks at him as damaged good with his best years behind him.

Prediction: Traded to Chicago

RB:

M.GordonThe holdout sealed his faith.

Prediction: Signs big deal with Miami.

D.Henry - Titans have to resign him he has earned a payday. D.Freeman is making 8.25m, D.Johnson/L.Bell 13m. He will get paid roughly around 11m a year.

Prediction: Resigns

K.Hunt - A rb needy team will pry him away from Cleveland.

Prediction: Signs with Detroit or Pittsburgh.

F.Gore - great career.

Prediction: Retires

K.Drake - David Johnson looks broken.

Prediction; Resigns

WR:

TBD

My dream scenario is that Eli signs with the Chargers and Rivers with the Giants because I'm a big fan of dramatic irony.

MGIII or Hunt to the Stillers, pretty safe bet they go balls out for one of those cats - and either one will eclipse Bell's greatest season in the 'burgh.

Hunt in the burgh would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥 also a little younger and cheaper than Gordon will be, I think.

I know that he's given no reason to think so at the professional level, but I still think that Benny Snell has major potential.

Benny snell football baby!!! Couldn’t agree more. Reminds me of bell coming out of college. Comes in heavy rookie year. They’ll have him drop 15-20 pounds and he’s explosive and can catch. Big time sleeper next year if they don’t go get a stud.

Cant see either going to the Steelers. They didnt want to give Bell a big contract, so why would they give one to Gordon who isnt as good and is coming off a bad season?

As for Hunt its hard to see him landing some huge contract given his 2018 altercation.

I think Pittsburgh probably feels content with their RB situation.

I’m gonna throw up if the Steeler’s feel content with hurt every other game Conner and can’t run for 2 yards Samuels. No thanks.

Ben not being there has hurt the running game. If anything they need help at WR and TE more than RB.

If we are including possible trades, I would add Rashaad Penny as a possibility to be elsewhere next year. Some leagues base keepers on draft position the year before, so might be a good value in those leagues he was drafted late if he does end up starting somewhere.

Almost positive that Hunt can (and nearly certainly will) be tendered a contract by CLE...for the price of a 3rd Rd pick it will be very affordable too. He won't be going anywhere, unless some team comes with a really good offer.

I was about to heavily disagree with you on a bunch of these until I realized you meant "re-signs" and not "resigns" 😄

the Ben/Marble Mouf Mike (aka "Teflon Tomlin", aka "Moosh Mouth Mike") window is roughly 90% closed - dunno if they have the patience to groom another cat (Snell/Edmunds) when more proven/explosive RBs will be available 🤷‍♂️

but, then again, it is an ownership that well understands the baked in fanbase will never revolt or turn, so, in true Rooney fashion, they would have zero effs to give rolling out one of their kids in '20.

i mean, how many Super Bowls did the HoF triumvirate of Ben/Bell/AB win, let alone reach

yeah ... ZERO.

(full disclaimer, Ben is a lock - AB was a slam dunk first ballot, now he may wait 10 years after retirement, if he makes it at all 🤷‍♂️  Bell is roughly 60% to make it as per some facacta HoF odds site for current players).

Titans still haven't re-signed Henry.

Henry to the Steelers? He doesn't get hurt like Conner and Tomlin can run him 30 times a game

Drake to the Texans? BOB messed up taking Hyde a d Duke Johnson when Drake is the equivalent to both of them. Drake has also been supremely durable and likely would not cost much more than Carlos Hyde.

i'll give Marble Mouf credit for that one shining trait - when he has a legit hoss, he saddles the mo' and leans on him heavily - hell, DH might go for 2k under Moosh Mouth ... and we'd finally see him utilized in the passing game, proper 👍

Precisely. Is Conner out there running advanced WR routes? No, simple screens to get the big fella in space. Keep Samuels as your pass catching specialists when Henry is tired but mostly just pound the baby rhino 30 times a game.

Guys, C.J. Prosise is going to be a free agent next year!!

San Fran could use anuddah coat rack in the vestibule, slap it next to the McKinnon model, which abuts the Breida design, which is flanked by the Coleman piece, which nicely complements the Mostert one.

Strongly disagree. Conner is incapable of avoiding contact and has shown he can't hold up with a full load. Snell is young and immature. Samuels is very versatile and great in doses.

JuJu has the talent but his QBs have done him no favors. Diontae Johnson has looked the part of a starter and looks very promising. Washington is a fine 3rd option. McDonald is criminally underutilized.

I think two underrated fits for Kareem Hunt, should he be allowed to leave the Browns, would be the Falcons and Rams.  Both teams have struggling running games anchored by over-the-hill backs on huge contracts.  Bringing in Hunt would allow them to supplement or even replace those guys at low cost, and get a lot of production.  I can see him being a great fit for the Rams in particular, and I'm sure McVay would salivate at the thought of using him in the backfield and out wide in tandem with Gurley to keep both fresh.

Also, I don't think Hunt would end up with the Steelers.  No way the Browns would allow him to go to a division rival.
