On the bench today. That’s 2 out of the first 3 games sitting. Not a good trend.

Against lefty’s. Get used to it.

And it pisses me right the F on off. Because Kyle Tucker as a prospect and thus far in his brief time as a major league hitter, has not displayed issues hitting left handed pitching: not statistically nor the eye test. There's no need for Baker to employ the lefty/righty sit/start matchup game with this young stud's bat.

And that's without even accounting for the fact that Yordan Alvarez isn't even available right now, the light hitting Aledmys Diaz is already on the DL, and that if there's one thing that Josh Reddick has proven over his long, middling, nondescript career - it's that he's exact just that: old and wholly mediocre (Okay, so then I guess Reddick's proven two things actually)

Oh yeah, and this is all the while the National League has the universal DH available to lineups.

On any and every account you can think of, there is absolutely no discernible reason for Baker to keep Tucker's bat on the bench at this time. NONE

Dusty Baker is such a turd. I couldn't stand him a couple decades ago as a manager, can't stand him now. From his in-game decision making, general logic (or lack thereof) and stubbornness - to his self-righteous, dismissing, defensive attitude to any form of criticism, Dusty Baker is the pits of the world. Or, in other words, as the 11 year old version of me would profoundly and quite aptly put it: he sucks and I hate him.

And now that Verlander is reportedly done for the season, expect Dusty to try and replace his spot in the rotation with Josh Reddick, while simultaneously assigning Reddick to cover right field even on his start dates. Baker will go with an unconventional 8 guys in the field with Reddick playing the this new-found dual SP/RF position, with 6’7 volleyball player Taylor Jones serving as DH until Yordan Alvarez returns. As for Kyle Tucker, Dusty will put him in charge of fun-time bench shenanigans, such as placing chewed bubble gum on top of unsuspecting and unwitting teammates’ ball caps during innings. It’ll be a real romp.

I couldn't agree with you more on Dusty and at bats for for Tucker! Dusty is old school and doesn't believe in letting someone with great pedigree get at bats. He has to micro manage every pitcher/batter situation so he's feels he is managing again.

Is it happening? In 6 games (5 starts): 6 runs, 5 RBI, 2 swipes. And he's done this hitting from the 8-spot. Or better question is, will Dusty allow it to happen?

Yep. Makes all the meltdown posts in this thread after day three of the season quite humorous.

I like that he's gettin ABs but he's had one good game. Obviously need patience with him but is anyone overly concerned that maybe he doesn't break out? I[...] I guess be patient is all we can do but in a 60 game season when do you cut the cord. 60 games isn't enough for baseball as it's always been a game of averages.

he needed a full season with regular pt. With things the way they are, it might not happen this year.

Don't see many Houston games here in NJ so all I have to judge by are his stats? I've read all his hype but how does he really look? 60 game season doesn't give us much time to wait for a guy to develop

Thanks

[...] he goes off for two triples and a homer. Hopefully a sign of life and a hot streak! Excited to see what he can do over a full season of consistent ABs.
