I can't imagine he'll be back this week. And if he is, he'll be limited, as the Cardinals play next Thursday night on short rest. Thursday night would seem like a good return, as he'd have 10 days to rest after.

Depends how he progresses obviously but Thursday game is likely to be for first place in the division so them holding him out wouldn’t be a surprise.

It’s also an injury that’s easy to aggravate. I’m sure that plays into the situation.

I have no idea what you are talking about.  He tore small ligaments in his ankle.  They just wait for it to heal, then tape him up really well.  Not particularly easy to aggravate in my opinion.

If he's practicing in any capacity on a Wednesday, I'd think the plan is to play him on Sunday... even with the TNF game looming. SF brought Tevin Coleman back in a similar situation, but unfortunately he reinjured his knee. Just saying, NFL coaches won't shy away from starting a player coming off an injury on a Sunday before a Thursday game, especially a team that is in the middle of the playoff race.

We shall see. But if he's active, I'm starting him.

Look I hope he’s 100% but this statement is why you shouldn’t take medical advice online 😂. I don’t know about you but in my option any body part that gets “torn” seems to have a higher likelihood of getting retorn in the future, relative to the rest of my body. It’s not like replacing a broken auto-part in a car

My understanding is that the small ligaments in the ankle are not reattached or repaired if torn because the ankle can still function without them.  It is a question of healing from the initial injury, the torn ligaments cannot be retorn.

I am not a physician or a sports medicine specialist, but I had a family member who suffered a similar injury.  Also AZ has always said Drake's injury was not as bad as initially feared, and that he would only be out about two weeks.

Hope this doesnt turn into a David Johnson situation from last season.. he had one carry then sat out the rest of the game.. edmonds exploded instead

Totally different situation. Idk why that would be the case.

Drake was brought in by Kingsbury. He was given the transition tag. He was fed ~20 carries a game before getting hurt. Chase Edmonds look pedestrian without Drake.

There's really no reason to believe this will be a "David Johnson situation".
